Chapter 14 The Snakes Are Coming
- If Lewis felt that the Dreamliner incident was just a coincidence before, all he was left with now, was a deep and profound fear for it.
- Since Three-Life Company had deliberately brought them over to this island, perhaps their real purpose of doing so was not as simple as it seemed, and they were not here for a trip at all.
- But what would their motives be? Would it be possible for them to return? Lewis did not know the answer, but he was certain about one thing—they would not be able to survive for much longer.
- “I guess this is your first time telling others about this. I supposed you didn’t even tell Erin and Leah, right?” Lewis took in a deep breath and asked.
- “That’s right; they don’t know about these! In their eyes, all of these are just coincidences. They didn’t mean to blame anyone for it. So, instead of telling them the cruel reality, it’s better to let them live a carefree life, or let them die from knowing that they were fighting for survival!” Ruth gave a gentle smile and looked toward the side where Leah and Erin were practicing their fighting skills.
- “I’m telling you all these because you’re different from the others! You’re a person who stays calm amid chaos. If there really is a chance for us to return, I do not doubt that you would bring those girls back. But if it was someone else facing those beauties, instead of protecting them, he would without a doubt take advantage of them. You were able to have Suzy, who is particularly arrogant, stay quietly by your side; that is proof that I can really trust you!” Ruth chuckled as she added.
- “So, does this mean I should thank you for trusting me?” Lewis helplessly smiled and said.
- “Yes, you can say it like that! Then tell me, how should you repay me for trusting you?” Ruth smiled as she asked.
- “Don’t tell me that you want me to commit myself to you?” Lewis light-heartedly replied to her.
- “Err…” Ruth’s face flushed red at his sudden words.
- “I’m tired. Please lend me your shoulder to lean on!” She did not say anything else, and instead, proved it with her actions.
- Even though she was poisoned yesterday, she was still conscious and awake.
- She was also aware of the scene where Lewis had taken off her pants and immediately sucked out the poison from her wounds.
- However, what she had not expected was that he did not take the chance to touch her private area, and he did not even go into a trance.
- Perhaps he might have done it deliberately. But as a man, he was able to control himself and had no other thoughts under such circumstances. For a man like Lewis, even if he accidentally touched her private area, it would not be a big deal for her.
- So many men would sweet-talk women just to get into their pants.
- But he! After taking off a beautiful woman’s pants, he…
- “Aren’t you both too shameless to be talking about romance and love so early in the morning?” Suzy walked over with an unhappy face.
- Yes, an unhappy face!
- In Suzy’s eyes, Lewis belonged to her. Now, another uncertainty had appeared before her.
- “Suzy, you’re here? There’s no other man in this place. Even if there is, I wouldn’t be interested in them. However, I am very interested in your man, so I was thinking of borrowing your man to lean on for a while. You wouldn’t mind, right?” Ruth said without holding back her words.
- “This scumbag! Whoever wants him can take him. Just don’t involve me in this!” Suzy was dissatisfied as she sat down by the other side of Lewis and looked toward the distant sea.
- She was unhappy that Lewis and Ruth were alone together.
- “Alright, don’t you have some practicing to do? So, what are you doing here?” Lewis did not blame Suzy.
- If he had wanted to blame her, he would have done so on the day they were by the coastline.
- “I… I… I can’t enter into the state of flow. Please help me…” Suzy hung her head low and said in a weak voice.
- “You don’t know how? If you managed to enter into your state of flow, it should be easy after the first try. How is it possible that you couldn’t enter into the state of flow?” Lewis felt puzzled.
- “Tsk, tsk… Suzy. Didn’t you say whoever wants him can take him? Why then, are you finding excuses to keep him to yourself?” Ruth smirked as she looked at Suzy.
- Perhaps she already knew what kind of person Lewis was.
- No wonder he was betrayed by his girlfriend and best friend.
- In fact, it would be strange if a person like him did not get betrayed.
- “Well, I just can’t do it. Why? Fine. If you don’t want to teach me then forget about it!” Suzy gave a cold snort and turned her head to the other side as she quietly hugged her knees. She did not want to look at Ruth and Lewis at all.
- “Okay, I surrender. Stand up!” In the end, Lewis stood up speechlessly and instructed Suzy.
- “Hmph!” Suzy snorted coldly and gave Ruth a proud look, then went over to his side.
- She let Lewis grasp onto her arms and began practicing Tai Chi seriously.
- At this moment, even when Lewis was guiding her to practice Tai Chi, Suzy did not forget to show Ruth the triumphant look on her face.
- It was as though she was declaring her position to Ruth.
- This action made Ruth speechless.
- Fortunately, Lewis and Suzy had stocked up enough food.
- The few pieces of the Nightsnare meat was enough to not let them worry about their food supply during that time.
- This had also allowed them to get along well with each other within a short time.
- On the third day, the wound on Ruth’s leg had almost fully recovered.
- Although her walking pace was still slow, it did not obstruct her in any way.
- For the past few days, Lewis and the others had spent their time near the cave. They did not stray too far from the cave as they were afraid that snakes would find them in the forests.
- Two days had passed by and Erin, who was out to relieve herself, ran back with a pale look on her face.
- “Erin, what’s wrong?” Looking at her pale face and trembling body, Ruth hurriedly questioned her.
- “Snakes; lots of snakes! Over there. What should we do? The snakes are coming toward us; what are we going to do?” Erin fretted.
- Snakes? Not only did Erin’s face turn for the worse, even Lewis’ face was filled with horror. He then hurriedly looked over to the direction where Erin had come from.
- Not far from them, Lewis was frightened stiff as he saw snakes with the thickness of an infant’s arm. All of them were above one meter long, and were of various colors; they slowly crawled toward them. All in all, there were at least 50 snakes.
- H-How could this be? Why did all these snakes look like vanguards?
- Lewis froze upon seeing those snakes. However, he did not continue looking at them; instead, he rushed back to the cave.
- “Quick; pack your things and run!” he yelled at the top of his lungs.
- He was confident that he could still escape if the snakes surrounded them, but could Suzy and the other girls do so?
- Run! This was the only solution Lewis could think of, and in this case, the giant snake had yet to come after them. He was uncertain if he could escape too once the giant snake started to chase after them.
- The giant snake had its way of orchestrating these little snakes at will. Just the thought of this made him feel inexplicably uncomfortable.
- “Ah… Lewis, w-where should we run toward?” Suzy asked in a quavering voice.
- Run!
- But where could they run toward?
- In which direction should they run?
