Chapter 10 Fixing broken relationships

• There is a knock on the door and Rebecca curses out loud. “Who the fuck is that?” she yelled.
• “It is me, your brother,” that voice which she had grown to hate answered from the outside.
• Rebecca groaned and stood up from the bed, she was about to binge watch a movie and she knew Triple J wouldn’t go away unless she heard what he came to say. She stood up and walked to the door, hesitated a bit before opening it.
• He was standing out there in his pajamas which she almost chuckled about; well, he never wore Pajamas, he said it was immature to have a uniform for night sleep, and that real men slept in lower underwear. Whatever was going on with him these days, she doesn’t give a fuck about it.
• “Make it snappy, I haven’t got all day, man,” she grumbled while still holding on to the door, ready to bash it to his face if he was here to waste her time.
• “Well, I just came to know, why do you hate me so much?” he asked calmly.
• The grimace on Rebecca’s face disappeared, she wasn’t expecting that question and in that tone; he was speaking calmly, that wasn’t how these things work between them. He was supposed to come here screaming at her and she wouldn’t hold back either, this whole new soft guy was starting to bore her. When does she get in a real fight?
• “Oh, you want to know? Since you forgot, let me remind you that I had a boy who was mad about me and I was just as mad about him. We both loved each other and he was going to marry me but then out of jealousy that I was getting married before you, what did you do? Oh I remember, you found my boyfriend and threatened him to stay away from him. You scared him away with your threats and I lost him forever; I lost the only man I ever loved, how does that sound to you?” she yelled.
• Jimmy was quiet for a while and then he sighed. “Um… I can't believe I would do that, I mean… that really sucks.” He muttered.
• “Oh, at least new you agree on that, but guess what? It is too late, because he is gone, he blocked me across every platform and severed all ties with me. I don’t even know what you told him or where he had run off to, I can't even find him if I wanted to, and it is all because of my jealous big brother, so thank you so much for ruining my life, and now you know why I hate you so much,” she spat.
• Jimmy scratched his head, a look of remorse on his face. “You are right, I don’t know why I would do such a thing as I don’t remember any of it, but that was totally wrong. Now like you said, it is too late, I can't undo what I did so the least I can do is apologize about it. I am sorry, Rebecca… I am really sorry for hurting you, please forgive me,” he pleaded calmly.
• Rebecca furrowed her eyebrows in confusion. Did she hear right? He was asking for forgiveness? What is this? A joke? Jimmy would never agree to be wrong let alone apologize for what he had done, this had to be a prank or something because it made no sense to her.
• “Um… Give. Me. A. Second,” Rebecca spelt out the words and then she ran inside and grabbed her phone. She came back to him and turned on the video recorder to capture the moment.
• “Come again brother, what did you say?” she asked.
• Jimmy smiled and shook his head. “Rebecca, I am very sorry for hurting you, I know I cannot change what I have done but all I can do is apologize and promise to be a better big brother. I would listen to your opinion and support it as well, please forgive me for what I did to you, I hope we can start all over again for the best.” He spoke at length.
• Rebecca’s jaws dropped as she recorded the whole thing. She was quick to save the moment because it was the eighth wonder of the world. One of the rarest scenes in history of mankind- Jimmy’s apology
• “So are we good, now?” Triple J asked to bring back her attention.
• “Oh,” she muttered, still trying to convince herself that it was real. “Not really, but I will think about it.” She replied.
• “Fair enough, goodnight then, sleep tight sister.” He said with a smile and then he turned to leave.
• Rebecca walked out to the corridor and watched him walk into his room, just to make sure he wouldn’t vanish along the way or fall down dead because it was very shocking to see him make an honest remorseful apology. In fact, he would rather die than apologize for something he did wrong.
• When she was sure that he had gotten into his room, she walked back into hers and locked the door. She stood with her back against the door and wondered what was going on, why the sudden change? This was more than just a memory loss, it seems like Aria was right after all, something was completely different about Triple J. She had not been paying much attention to him before but she was starting to see it, there was something they didn’t know and she needed to know what it was.
• Rebecca stared at the video record in her phone and smiled. “Okay, I am definitely going to make this record of Jimmy’s apology my ringtone so that I can play it to him whenever he regains his memory and then he can't deny apologizing to me, because I am sure he would never apologize to me if he still had those foolish memories.” She said to herself.
• And she did mean every word that she said, she extracted the audio of the record and used it as her ringtone immediately, she had no plans of deleting it for life. Maybe this was just a moment of weakness for Jimmy, but whatever it was, she caught it on camera, and now she would use it to taunt him forever.
