• Roland came out two minutes later and we drove out to the library. I was reclined in the corner of the car, watching the passing landscape, my mind replaying the circumstance that took place that morning; the manner Paisley had broken the news of her pregnancy, and how much of a fool I felt. It made tears sting the back of my eyes, but I bit down on my cheek, willing it back.
