- Sloane had a rare, uninterrupted sleep until daybreak. She curled up in her bed and stretched lazily, only to touch the cold, empty space next to her. An instinctive thought struck Sloane, and she instantly opened her eyes, looking for the man who was nowhere to be found. She snapped into alertness, not even having time to put on her slippers before she dashed into the living room, only to find someone in the kitchen.
- A sense of relief suddenly washed over Sloane as she watched Gavin, clad in his pajamas, in the kitchen. He was single-handedly holding a kettle, ready to pour water. She hurriedly walked over, took the kettle from his hand, and poured him a glass of water.
