Chapter 8 An Invitation
- Kraius shook his head as the vivid memory came flashing through his mind. He wanted to smack himself because even if it had been years ago, what had happened between them still lingered on his mind. Rhezi’s chubby and blushing face, who had claimed him as her boyfriend, has never left his mind.
- Kraius sighed when he looked at the paperwork he had been holding. There’s nothing that comes in his mind because he couldn’t think straight so drastically threw it instead above to the table. It was instantly scattered and blended together with the things that had been on the wooden table, too.
- “Fuck!” Kraius cursed loudly. He also scratched himself with so much frustration. “Fuck to the old man in the mound!” he uncontrollably shouted.
- Kraius’s secretary hurriedly came inside his office because of what he did. She was wearing a black corporate attire with an inner white blouse. She has dark rimmed glasses on and her hair was styled into a bun. She may have had a formal expression but curiosity was still reflected on her face because of Kraius’s shouting.
- “W-What’s the matter, Sir?” Kraius’ secretary asked him wondering what's wrong with him.
- Kraius glared at his secretary before he scanned with his eyes the whole office. His forehead frowned at times but more often he’s shaking his head that made the secretary wonder even more.
- “Do you have any alum there? I think there’s a bad spirit inside this office. I can’t do my job, ” he seemed to complain like a child to his secretary.
- Kraius’s secretary wanted to laugh when he hit his head and fell on his desk. It is unthinkable that the lawyer also has a childish mindset. She is one of those who admire him because of his efficiency in the cases he handles. However, she was also annoyed by the lawyer’s being a fuckboy.
- “I don’t actually know, Mr. Montreal, ” she awkwardly said. “But, we can use the incense. Wait a minute.” She turned around and left Kraius on the table.
- Kraius tried to get up. He fixed himself and tried to concentrate. Nothing would happen to him if he thought all day about that fat woman. He needed to divert his attention, or else he would become crazy. Eventually, he just took a sighed.
- Kraius swallowed a lump on his throat a few times and took a deep breath. He also opened the drawer connected to his desk. He took the small mirror and looked at his face. He could still see a handsome man even though the hair is a bit messy. Then he smiled again. Kraius remembered the call he did the last time they met. Chubz because she’s chubby and cute when she pouts her lips.
- Kraius’s eyes widened at the thought. He shook his head again and returned the mirror to the dresser. He was going crazy and he was sure of it. Surely his mother would cut him off when there’s an opportunity. He was still in such a state of mind when his secretary came in with an incense stick that caught his attention.
- Kraius gave her secretary a scrofulous look. She has a sexy body structure and looks good even with glasses. He needed some steam. He needed to distract himself or else he would become crazy, after. Unfortunately, he doesn’t like engaging himself with a secretary.
- “Are you sure that this would help?” Kraius asked with a frown.
- The secretary shrugged her shoulders before answering the lawyer’s question, “I’m not sure, Sir. Let’s wait and see. ”
- Kraius did nothing but nodded when she left him. The incense she had brought earlier was placed on the side of his bookshelf located on the side of his office, too. The smell of it wafted all around even in Kraius’s sense of smell. Gradually, his system calmed down because of its scent.
- All day long Kraius reviewed Laura Moran’s case. Just like what he expected, the other party resisted what he said when they talked on the phone. The governor, which was her father -in -law, was adamant in rejecting the annulment Kraius endorsed to him. However, he was not worried. The day has been set for him to go to San Vicente to talk to them in person. Especially Laura’s ex -husband Mayor Bernard Guerrero.
- Kraius was distracted from what he was reading when someone called on his cellphone. He immediately picked up the device that was on top of its mini shelf. Kraius smirked when he read the name on its screen. A young model who did a handshake to him at a party in Shangrila.
- “Hi, Shan!” Kraius greeted her warmly. He glanced again at the incense which was only a stubs left. He was sure that the old but little creature in the mound had really cursed him before because of the strange feeling that also disappeared immediately.
- “I want to meet you, Kraius. A dinner with you in my house. Are you free? ” her direct question immediately on the other line.
- Kraius raised his eyebrows. There was a glint of a playful smile on his lips. He also touched the bottom of his chin while contemplating on what the model said on the other line. Shan Melendez was his type of a girl. Sexy and white as porcelain. She also has a great mound because he has seen her personally. He wanted some steam and the model was a willing victim.
- “Sure," Kraius replied after a while.
- As Kraius was talking to the model on the other line, he saw his secretary enter his office. He quickly motioned for her to be quiet, which she immediately obeyed. She was also quicker than four o'clock to pick up the Steno pad and write something there. And it was, “she’s going to leave because her office hours are already over.” Kraius only nodded to her.
- “Okay. I like that, ” he replied to what Shan had said on the other line about food. “Are you sure about eating dinner with me? Or do you have any naughty things in mind aside from that? ” he directly asked her too, afterward.
- He smiled when the other line got silent. When she spoke again, Kraius almost burst out laughing. He also raised an eyebrow at what she had said even though he couldn't see her. He's an attorney so he knows she's lying. He bit his tongue to stop himself from saying anything unfavorable to her. What’s important was, he has a viand later.
- When the call had ended, Kraius leaned his back on his swivel chair. Though his morning had started bad, Shan’s call had taken it back. He looked up and closed his eyes. He let himself in that position for a while. He then seated properly and peeked at his wristwatch. It was almost six in the evening that he decided to fix himself and went out of his office. He didn’t bring his briefcase, either. He was very sure of his destination tonight. And it was in the condo which Shan had told him, where she was also there at the moment.
