Chapter 7 Her Reckoning

Tessa arrived at the Donaldson's mansion determined; she had her mind made up and was ready to leave the Donaldson family. Though she had not consulted a lawyer yet, the thought sent her eyes rolling. She had been trapped in this loveless marriage for far too long, and she was ready to break free.
She walked into the living room to meet Granny Donaldson, sipping her tea. Tessa looked at the clock on the wall; it was 2 p.m. She sighed deeply and walked next to her chair. Granny Donaldson looked at her, acknowledging her presence.
"Sit," she said; her voice was firm but gentle. "We need to talk."
