Chapter 11 Bumping Into Cathlyn Again

  • Cathlyn was obviously outraged. She had already decided that the ten thugs she brought with her would break Stephan’s legs.
  • "What do you mean? Oh, I remember now, Ms. Cathlyn, I’m so sorry. By the time I got there, the man had already left the mall. Maybe you should keep looking?" said Thomas.
  • "What? He’s gone? Damn it!" Cursing, Cathlyn hurried off with her men to search the mall.
  • Watching her retreating figure, Thomas’s eyes turned cold. "You bitch, you almost cost me my job. That man is a Supreme VIP at the mall."
  • "Do you have any idea how powerful someone like that must be? You’ll taste it for yourself soon enough."
  • He had told her nothing, harboring a clear sense of revenge.
  • Meanwhile, back at home, after Lily went upstairs for her afternoon nap, Isabelle pulled Stephan into another bedroom.
  • "Tell me the truth, what kind of card did you use at that store? Why did the manager’s attitude suddenly change so drastically?"
  • Stephan had expected this question and immediately replied, "It’s a card that came with my discharge documents. It lists my rank, and once they saw that, of course, they got scared."
  • At this moment, Isabelle laughed. "You almost had me convinced."
  • "Four years ago, you were a nobody, just a live-in son-in-law for my family. You joined the military, and suddenly, you’ve risen through the ranks? Are you saying your rank is high?"
  • "Not too high, but decent," Stephan replied.
  • It wasn’t that he didn’t want to tell the truth, but he couldn’t let anyone know his current status. If he did, her grandfather and Matthew would come crawling to apologize. That would make it too easy on them.
  • Still, he wasn’t going to hide anything that could improve their lives.
  • Not wanting to ask any more questions, Isabelle was about to leave when Stephan grabbed her arm. One look from her, and he quickly let go. "Izzy, come with me to the bank."
  • Isabelle was puzzled. "Why? Do you want to show off all the money you saved over the past four years?"
  • Ignoring the sarcastic tone, Stephan shook his head. "We’re going to see the bank manager. He’ll have a way to make your uncle beg us to restore the brick factory contract."
  • Isabelle let out a scoffing laugh, completely speechless. "Stephan, it seems that in the years you spent in the military, you didn’t grow up at all. You just got better at bragging. If you ever act like this in front of Lily, I won’t let you off."
  • Watching her walk away, Stephan had no choice but to head out on his own. He had made a promise to start seeking justice for Lily, and he wasn’t going to delay.
  • "Why did Stephan go out again? Is he really that busy?" Sitting in the living room watching TV, Laura heard the door close. She glanced out the window and frowned.
  • "He said he’s going to make uncle’s family beg us to restore the brick factory contract."
  • Laura burst into laughter. "Did he really say that? Forget it."
  • "Right now, he is only playing the role of Lily’s father. Once she gets older in the next few years, you two should get a divorce."
  • "By the way, give Evelyn a call. No matter who’s right or wrong, you did slap her. She’s still your sister, after all."
  • With a sigh, Isabelle picked up her phone, hesitating for a moment.
  • Pinnacle Bank was one of the most luxurious and secure banks in the world. Wherever a city’s GDP met the required standard, the bank had a branch.
  • At this moment, Stephan, having left home, arrived at the entrance of Pinnacle Bank in Newbridge.
  • The moment he stepped inside, a beautiful woman in professional attire immediately approached him. "Sir, how can I assist you today?"
  • "I’d like to see your branch manager," replied Stephan.
  • The woman froze for a second but maintained her smile. "Do you have an appointment?"
  • It was a joke, of course. The branch manager of a bank wasn’t someone that anybody could just meet on a whim, let alone at Pinnacle Bank.
  • Without wasting any words, Stephan handed her a card. The card was entirely purple, with no magnetic strip, chip, or even letters—just a blank card.
  • Taking the card, the woman glanced at it briefly. Her smile vanished, and she immediately classified him as some kind of lunatic.
  • Just as she was about to speak, a familiar scent wafted over, followed by a voice filled with hatred. "I thought that voice sounded familiar. Turns out it’s you, you bastard!"
  • The woman standing next to Stephan was none other than Cathlyn, the one whose hand he had broken at Pavilion Mall.
  • "That's filthy. Do you want to lose your other hand too?" said Stephan.
  • At his words, Cathlyn instinctively took two steps back, but then she remembered where they were. Nobody would dare cause trouble here.
  • Her courage returned, and she pulled out her phone, sending a message while mocking him.
