- Isabelle and Laura thought they had misheard. They turned to Evelyn with disbelief in their eyes. "Evelyn, you borrowed ten thousand from Mr. Craig? What did you need it for?"
- Looking entirely justified, Evelyn replied coldly to Laura, "What for? Does a Benz run without gas? Doesn’t maintenance cost money?"
