Chapter 15 Raven's Plans
- Joseph's face suddenly twisted.
- Elias' face also turned ashen. He glared at Leonard with a bloodthirsty chill in his eyes as he wished he could toss Leonard out the window. He was not angry because of the low investment but because Leonard had no humanity. Joseph had just come out of an operation, and Leonard behaved recklessly and went against Joseph, without worrying about his health.
- Joseph looked at Leonard with a sullen face and uttered, "This matter..."
- Elias clenched his grandpa's hand and shouted, "Grandpa!"
- Joseph patted his hand and comforted him. "Elias, you don't have to worry about this matter. No matter what, I will treat everyone equally."
- He clenched his grandpa's hand and said in a low voice, "Grandpa."
- Joseph patted Elias' hand again.
- This time, Elias gripped his grandpa's hand tightly and uttered, "Don't worry about the investment fund. I will invest according to your orders. If you want to invest one billion, so be it. Also, if you want it to be three billion, it will be three billion."
- Leonard couldn't help but snort, "Does being the general manager of a branch company make you think that the company belongs to you now? Everything in the branch company belongs to the Mortimers."
- When Joseph heard that, his anger surged, and his breathing became rapid again. He pointed to Leonard and scolded, "Y-You..."
- Elias was desperate to knock Leonard down with one punch so that he could keep Leonard's mouth shut and never speak again. However, that would only trigger Joseph's anxiety. Joseph's current condition did not allow for any emotional stimulation.
- Elias immediately grabbed Joseph's hand and rubbed them in his hands while uttering softly, "Grandpa, don't get worked up. I'm a shareholder of Coco Investments, so whether it's a billion or three billion, just let me know. It doesn't matter."
- There was a sudden gasp in the ward.
- Leonard questioned in a deep voice, "What did you say?"
- Elias ignored him and held his grandpa's hand as he reassured Joseph warmly. "Coco Investments is a joint venture between me and my friend, Zack Seinfeld, so I am a major shareholder. Don't worry. I will be in charge of the investment for the Lancasters."
- "Are you serious?" Joseph asked.
- He looked closely at his grandson to make sure he was not lying to him.
- Elias looked him in the eye and nodded earnestly. "It's true."
- Then, Elias pulled Raven to his side and added, "Raven is aware of it too. I took her around the company today."
- Her eyes flashed quickly before she nodded and agreed, "He's right, Grandpa. Elias is a shareholder of Coco Investments. When it comes to investing in the Lancasters, Elias should be the one to do it."
- Joseph beamed when he learned that Elias was a shareholder of Coco Investments. He patted Elias' hand and sighed with relief, "Good boy. If Tessa returns, she will see how promising you are and be proud of you. Why don't we do this? Mortimer Group will invest one billion, while you invest another two billion in the name of Coco Investments. We can't mistreat Raven unfairly. What do you think?" Coco Investments' assets were similar to Mortimer Group, so investing two billion was no big deal.
- Raven's heart pounded. It turned out that all the disputes Joseph started were just to ensure she was treated fairly. He wanted her to enjoy the same treatment as Aria. Then, she held Joseph's hand and couldn't help but squeeze it tightly to convey her gratitude.
- Elias responded, "Okay. We'll listen to you."
- The weight lifted from Joseph's shoulders, and his mood was lightened as he realized he had found the solution to the issue. He breathed a sigh of relief and suddenly felt sleepy.
- He then nodded and said, "All of you should leave now. I want to catch a nap."
- "Have a good rest, Grandpa." Elias gently tucked the blanket for Joseph and led Raven out of the ward.
- At the hospital entrance, Raven gently released Elias' hand and asked him, "Are you a shareholder of Coco Investments?"
- He then looked at her and saw her staring at him with clear eyes.
- "What do you think?" Elias inquired.
- Raven looked serious as she replied, "I don't know, but if you have difficulty in cashing out two billion out, I have two ideas."
- He suddenly became interested, so he asked her with his voice raised, "Oh? What are they?"
- She answered, "Firstly, my pride doesn't matter. We just have to invest one billion in the Lancasters as agreed before. Let's convince Grandpa together that we won't feel embarrassed about the investment that is less than Cayden's investment in Aria. We won't be disappointed and will still live happily."
- "What's the other idea?" inquired Elias.
- He was more curious about her other plan.
- "I'll pay for the two billion," suggested Raven.
- A flash of shock shone in Elias' eyes before he asked calmly, "You're going to pay? Where did you get so much money from?"
- Raven replied, "My mother left me a sum of money before, and I've never touched it for so many years. The compound interest should exceed 2 billion by now."
- He couldn't help but reach out and stroke her head. He said, "I don't need you to pay for it. I am a shareholder of Coco Investments. The only shareholder." How could he use the money her mother left her?
- Raven nodded. "Well, let's proceed according to Grandpa's plan then."
- "Okay," Elias responded and looked at her again. It was the first time he looked at her so seriously. He noticed that she had beautiful eyes.
- "What's wrong?" Raven asked with reddish ears as she noticed Elias staring at her.
- "It's fine. Our honeymoon might have to be postponed for a while. You should stay in the hotel tonight. I'll keep watch at the hospital," he suggested.
- "I'll keep watch with you," she offered.
- Raven sincerely wanted to keep watch over Joseph.
- However, Elias declined, "It's fine. I'll keep watch. Dr. Lent said he's in good condition, so I'll just stay back and take care of him."
- Raven insisted, "But I want to stay with Grandpa."
- In this world, there were not many people who treated her well, so she wanted to cherish every one of them.
- "All right, I'll take you to Coco Investments first, then we'll go back to the hospital when Grandpa is almost resting," said Elias.
- "Okay," she responded.
- Elias sent Zack a text message and took Raven to Coco Investments Group.
- At the end of the hallway in the hospital, Leonard, Vivian, and Cayden huddled together in discussion.
- "Do you think what Elias said was true? Is he really the shareholder of Coco Investments Incorporated?" inquired Cayden.
- "That's impossible. If he is a shareholder of Coco Investments, why is he still staying in our house? Is he happy to be bullied? Can't he feel how much hatred we have for him?" Leonard questioned.
- Leonard's mood was complicated. He hated Elias and Tessa even more. He could not wait to grind Elias onto the ground and show Tessa what kind of son she gave birth to. Tessa had looked down upon him, so her son only deserved the same treatment.
- "Exactly. If he a shareholder of Coco Investments, he would have left our house and lived a happy life elsewhere. Why would he stay with us and get bullied?" Vivian chimed in with a disdainful tone.
- "Why does he have to stay in our house? No matter what we do, we can't kick him away. I'm pretty sure he's just staying until the assets are distributed."
- Leonard stated, "I don't care what his status is now, but if he even tries to get a share of our family property, he will have to cross my dead body first."
- Vivian immediately looked at Cayden, both satisfied.
- They wanted Elias to be removed from any possibility of inheriting property or assets. Why should an illegitimate child get the Mortimer Family's assets?
- "Dad, I'll get someone to check the industrial and commercial registration information," Cayden suggested.
- Leonard replied in a baritone voice, "I just asked someone to run an investigation. Zack, the vice president of Coco Investments, is the only shareholder of Coco Investments. I've met him a few times before, and he seems like a very generous person. In the industrial and commercial registration information, Elias' name is nowhere to be found."
- Although the information on Coco Investments had nothing to do with Elias, he felt suffocated, as if a thorn had become lodged in his heart, making him extremely uneasy. He stretched out his hand, pulled his tie involuntarily, unbuttoned his shirt, and breathed in a gasp of air to feel better.
- On the contrary, Vivian was happy that her eyes lit up. "I knew he couldn't be a shareholder of Coco Investments."
- Cayden snorted coldly, "I'm going to watch him slap himself in the face when he can't take the money out."
