Chapter 3 Does Eddie Have A Son?
- Wanda abruptly stopped and pulled her arm free from Barry's grasp.
- Little did Barry know that Wanda had already discovered his terrible relationship with Bethany. Barry interrupted, demanding, "Wanda, where have you been? I've been calling, and you never answered. What's wrong with you?"
- With anger and a sense of betrayal simmering inside her, Wanda refused to be considerate as she replied, "Why should I answer your call? Who do you think you are?"
- "Sis, I know you're upset about Dad kicking you out, but it's not Barry's fault," Bethany said, her gentle demeanor contrasting Wanda's irritation. "Barry has been really worried about you. He couldn't eat or sleep properly. He even lost weight!"
- Wanda raised an eyebrow in disbelief. "Is that so? How do you know all that? Have you been with him around the clock or something?"
- Caught off guard by Wanda's retort and the truth, Barry was left embarrassed and speechless.
- Initially, his love for Wanda was genuine at the beginning of their relationship. However, after three years of a relationship with minimal physical intimacy, Wanda's lack of romance, especially compared to Bethany's charm, had made her seem less like a conventional partner.
- Standing beside them, Bethany bit her lip and spoke in a pitiful, plaintive tone. "Sis, don't blame Barry. I got so worried about you, so I begged him to help me find you. Barry, go ahead and explain to my sister."
- With teary eyes, Bethany looked as if she carried the weight of the world on her shoulders, and Barry couldn't help but feel guilty.
- He knew he had wronged Bethany, making her suffer. "Bethany..."
- Seeing Barry and Bethany getting affectionate, Wanda's voice turned cold, "Did you two purposely come to the Civil Affairs Bureau for me?"
- "God knows the both of you appearing here together might give away the wrong idea that you're here to get..."
- Wanda's words hit Bethany's guilty conscience, and her grip unintentionally tightened on her shoulder bag.
- Wanda was right. They hadn't come to look for her but to register their marriage. But Wanda was still unaware of the new plot twist.
- "That's enough!" Barry snapped in frustration, silencing Wanda. "You're acting so selfish, Wanda. It's becoming increasingly difficult to understand you. Your dad was right about you being selfish and difficult! We should give each other some space to think about our relationship. Take your time, and come find me when you're ready to talk. Let's leave, Beth!"
- With that, Barry pulled Bethany away and left.
- Reluctant to admit it, Wanda felt the sting acutely. Tears welled in her eyes, and just then, Bethany turned around, her smile smug and obnoxious.
- Wanda took a deep breath and wiped away her tears with clenched teeth.
- No, I mustn't cry.
- Crying over these undeserving people was something only a fool would do!
- She was determined to make Bethany pay for what she had done to her!
- Two hours later.
- Wanda had finally arrived at Eddie's residence.
- A sprawling garden villa named Bluebell Barn.
- "Well, being part of a wealthy family sure has its challenges," Wanda sighed and was about to ring the doorbell.
- The villa's grand door suddenly swung open, and a middle-aged maid hurried out. She glanced briefly at Wanda before taking her by the arm and ushering her inside.
- Confused, Wanda had no choice but to follow the capable maid. "Quick, Dr. Guille. Our little master refuses to eat again!"
- Little master? Does Eddie have a son?!
