Chapter 6 Get My Attention?

  • Wanda felt a sense of calm wash over her when she heard the news.
  • Ever since her mother and paternal grandmother passed away in a car accident when she was ten years old, her birthday had gone uncelebrated.
  • When Luther informed her that he had organized a birthday party for her, Wanda didn't feel touched at all. Instead, she felt a shiver down her spine.
  • She knew that Luther's true intention behind the party was to gain control over the Kirk family.
  • For Wanda, this was the perfect opportunity to uncover Luther's schemes before the esteemed families of Zephyr. How could she pass it up?
  • After a moment, a sneer formed on Wanda's lips. "Alright. I understand. I'll come."
  • After ending the call, Rachel was left slightly dazed as she held her cell phone. She found it strange that Wanda had suddenly become obedient.
  • "What did she say?" Luther, who was sitting on the couch, asked unhappily.
  • Rachel snapped out of her thoughts and smiled. "She agreed."
  • "Mm." Luther didn't doubt it. Despite Wanda's rebellious nature in recent years, she was ultimately just a naive girl. No matter how much she resisted, she couldn't escape his control.
  • "By the way, have you informed the necessary people?" Although Luther had been managing the Kirk Group in recent years, there were still some senior figures in the company who resisted him and were waiting for Wanda to take over the Kirk family.
  • "Mm. I have." Rachel pondered for a moment. "Luther, when the time comes, can we also announce Bethany and Barry's marriage? I'm afraid Bethany's pregnancy will become noticeable if we continue to delay."
  • "Furthermore, by announcing the marriage with the Hayward family, it will be advantageous for you to manage the Kirk Group. Those people will likely be won over."
  • Luther considered it and finally nodded in agreement.
  • ...
  • After dinner, Wanda sat on the couch in the living room, waiting for Eddie.
  • She needed to ask him for help with some specific issues.
  • But it was already ten o'clock at night, and he still hadn't returned home. Wanda was feeling sleepy and struggled to keep her eyes open. Unconsciously, she fell asleep on the couch.
  • "Where is she?" Eddie asked upon returning home, removing his coat which had a faint smell of alcohol.
  • Mr. Holt, who was waiting by the door, took the coat. "Mrs. Young is over there..."
  • Upon hearing this, Eddie followed Mr. Holt's gaze and looked over. He saw Wanda sitting on the couch, her eyes closed and one hand supporting her head. Her head was gradually...
  • The man's face remained emotionless, but the corners of his mouth twitched upon seeing this.
  • This woman is so reckless. How dare she fall asleep in a stranger's house on her first day.
  • Eddie unbuttoned two buttons on his collar with one hand, revealing his faintly discernible, sensual Adam's apple. He spoke coldly, "You can leave."
  • "Alright."
  • Eddie took a few steps towards Wanda.
  • His gaze fell upon the woman's fair cheeks. The soft orange light cast a tender glow on her skin.
  • Her curly and thick eyebrows were dense and created shadows beneath her eyes. Her soft, pink lips were slightly parted, giving her a delicate appearance like that of a doll.
  • He could catch a faint scent from the girl at such close proximity. It inexplicably pleased him.
  • The cold expression on Eddie's face subconsciously softened.
  • Perhaps Wanda's head was heavy, as her hand slipped and her head began to tilt. It was about to fall.
  • Instinctively, Eddie leaned down and reached out with his long arm. His large hand caught Wanda's head, stabilizing it.
  • The woman's head felt small in his hands.
  • Wanda wasn't in a deep sleep. She furrowed her brows and woke up in surprise.
  • When Wanda opened her eyes, she saw a magnified face right in front of her. She shrieked and jumped away.
  • Upon realizing it was Eddie...
  • Wanda's eyes widened. Am I dreaming? Why is Eddie holding my head?
  • The corners of her mouth lifted into an embarrassed yet polite smile. "Mr. Eddie..."
  • Eddie smoothly pulled his hand back, still feeling the warmth from the woman's head. "Why didn't you sleep in your room?"
  • His gaze then fell upon Wanda's thin clothes, causing him to furrow his brows.
  • Is this Wanda's way of trying to get my attention?!
  • He had just instinctively held her head, and the fragrance of her hair still lingered on his hands.
  • It shouldn't have been an impulsive action, but it left him feeling restless. "Or are you suggesting that you deliberately sat here to get my attention?"
  • Wanda was startled. She didn't realize that her unintentional action had given him the wrong impression.
  • She wore an innocent expression. "No, actually, I..."
  • "You better not." Eddie interrupted her, not allowing her to finish.
  • With that, he headed upstairs. Suddenly, he stopped in his tracks, as if remembering something. He turned to give Wanda a cold glance.
  • "By the way, come with me to the hospital tomorrow."
  • "Alright." The man exuded authority, and Wanda didn't dare to disobey.
  • As the man disappeared at the top of the stairs, Wanda realized that she hadn't brought up what she wanted to discuss with Eddie.
  • She hesitated for a moment and followed him.
  • "Mr. Eddie, I have something to talk to you about..." The bedroom door was slightly ajar, and without thinking, Wanda reached out to open it.
  • The door swung open, revealing the black, white, and gray interior. But what caught her eye the most was Eddie, who was in the midst of changing his clothes.
