Chapter 6 My Stubborn Niece

  • ~ISSA
  • "This is Lycan Issa, Mariana's stepbrother— your uncle. . ."
  • My heart sank to the deepest part of my core as I realised who this beautiful yet rebellious woman was.
  • I felt my beast begin to stir with protest. I had not seen this coming. I had not expected the events to turn on me this way.
  • How could she be the same child I was supposed to look after?
  • I was expecting to see a little child, not a full-grown woman!
  • I blinked multiple times as I stared at Yulia. Her stormy gray eyes contorted and she looked away immediately, running into her friend's arms, perhaps hoping that the poor girl could help her disappear.
  • I thought of last night and my wolf jumped. How could the woman I had kissed so passionately be my niece?
  • What sort of a sick game was this?
  • Memories of the way I touched her danced in my mind. Memories of all the obscene things I had imagined I would do to her when I finally found her replayed in my head.
  • These things were not even healthy.
  • Yet, she turned out to be Yulia.
  • "Fuck," I spat.
  • "You can't keep hiding your face, Yulia. I remember telling you to stop," Lana said.
  • Her friend had no idea what we had done last night. She was more ashamed of that than her actions with me right now.
  • "C— can we go inside?" I asked when I finally got the courage to speak.
  • Rogers nodded. "Please, where are my manners? Follow me," he announced.
  • I swallowed hard as I started to go after Rogers. I threw another glance at Yulia and saw that she hid her face again. She was too ashamed to look up at me.
  • The poor girl.
  • My beast shifted at the action and I thought she looked cute though. I shook my head and turned my attention to Rogers.
  • "Yulia, you need to come in too. This matter concerns you," Rogers announced.
  • I heard her release a frustrated growl and figured she would follow us in eventually. Perhaps after she was done letting out series of unladylike noises.
  • I chuckled at my thoughts and walked through the door that Rogers was holding open for me. He gestured at the couch and I helped myself unto one of them.
  • "What will you like to have? Wine? Coffee?"
  • "Water is fine," I said with a small smile.
  • He snapped his fingers at the woman who was standing in a corridor and she hurried away. It was not long before she brought my water and I downed the content to help me stabilize my thoughts.
  • They were still so jumbled by my present reality. I exhaled sharply and faced Rogers.
  • "So that was Yulia? Mariana's adopted child?" I asked again for clarification.
  • He nodded in affirmative.
  • I parted my lips this time and the room was suddenly so hot. "Wow, she's grown so much. The last time I saw her, she was still a baby," I announced as my beast stirred uncomfortably within me.
  • Neither of us liked the way the tables had turned on us.
  • As if on cue, Yulia walked back into the house and sank on another couch. She looked more confident this time but she avoided my gaze completely.
  • "I'll be in your room if you need me," her friend announced before disappearing up the stairs.
  • "Everything is set, except for the fact that Yulia had refused to move in with you," Rogers announced.
  • I corked my left brow before turning to Yulia who had her head held high but away from my gaze.
  • "Why don't you want to move in with me?" I asked.
  • She gritted her teeth as her lips quivered before she finally spoke. "B— because you're a stranger," she answered.
  • The earlier rebelliousness was gone and she could hardly speak yet she kept her ego high. How cute. . .if only I could claim those quivering lips as mine.
  • I jerked my head away from her, shocked by my own thoughts.
  • ‘She's your niece! Issa!’ I scolded myself inwardly.
  • I cleared my throat outside and faced Rogers instead. "You mentioned something about she getting attacked last night, didn't you?" I asked.
  • "Exactly. She's not safe here. She needs to leave this place, all the more reason why you have to take her with you. I do not care if you use force," the lawyer answered.
  • A shocked gasp escaped from Yulia. "Are you trying to sell me off to a man I don't know?" She snapped at him and I found myself relaxing at her outburst.
  • There was something about her rudeness that I found extremely sexy. I could sit here all day, enjoying her snap at the lawyer if I could.
  • "I have told you before. I am not a child. I can take of myself. You can call the Pack police and inform them about what happened. I don't necessarily have to go with him!" She roared before balling her hands into fists.
  • The lawyer began to massage his temple in defeat. "How stubborn are you going to be, Yulia? You saw it yourself last night, yet you're insisting on been this way," he muttered.
  • She folded her arms at him. "This is where I grew up. This is the only place I have known my entire life. The remnants of my mother reside in this house. I am not ready to part with her," she revealed as her voice began to break. "At least, allow me to stay here. . ."
  • She sniffed and began to wipe away her tears. This made my wolf flinch and I suddenly could not bare the sight of her in this condition.
  • I wanted to do something, anything to make her feel better. I wanted to ease her pain but there was nothing I could do because in the end, I had to take her away.
  • "The way I see it," I finally spoke after a while and this drew both their attentions to me. "You have only two choices."
  • She furrowed her brows at me before inhaling deeply to kill off the remnants of her moment of weakness.
  • "What are my choices?”
