Chapter 11 : Mom, Don't Leave

  • Su Yi rushed into the villa ahead of Auntie, and in the spacious and bright living room, Li Shengjue was kneeling on the ground, holding the crying child in his arms, his face full of anxiety.
  • It turned out that while Li Shengjue was working in the study, Nian Nian, who was already asleep, rolled off the bed and hit his forehead, causing a big bump and unbearable pain, which made him cry loudly.
  • "Don't cry, Grandma will hold you!" Auntie tried to comfort Nian Nian, but it had no effect. Nian Nian continued to cry loudly.
  • "Let me try!"
  • Su Yi took Nian Nian from Auntie's hands, first checked the injury on his forehead, and then took his pulse. For some reason, when Nian Nian was in her arms, he calmed down instantly, like a tired bird returning to its nest.
  • Auntie smiled and said, "Su Su has a special connection with this child."
  • After finishing the pulse examination for Nian Nian and checking his eyelids, Su Yi said to Li Shengjue, "The forehead injury is minor, but fever is a serious illness. I suspect it's pediatric pneumonia. It's best for you to take him to the hospital for a full-body examination immediately!"
  • "Pneumonia? How could it be pneumonia? The doctor who came this afternoon said it was just a common cold!" Auntie looked at Li Shengjue, her expression filled with panic.
  • Li Shengjue looked at Su Yi, his gaze unclear and intense.
  • Su Yi held Nian Nian horizontally, gently patting his body, meeting his gaze. "You may not believe me, but it's better to take the child to the hospital for an examination!"
  • Li Shengjue didn't hesitate anymore. He turned around, picked up his jacket from the sofa, and walked out of the living room. Soon, the sound of a car starting came from the yard.
  • Su Yi got into the car with Nian Nian, while Auntie stayed at home to take care of things.
  • The car left the villa area and drove onto the road. Su Yi suddenly realized that this combination was a bit strange. Li Shengjue was driving, and she was holding Nian Nian, like a family of three.
  • She cleared her throat and tapped Li Shengjue's seat, "Shouldn't you inform the child's mother? It would be convenient for her to take care of him if something really happens."
  • Li Shengjue glanced at her through the rearview mirror, coldly saying, "No need."
  • At the hospital, Li Shengjue registered Nian Nian for emergency treatment. After a series of examinations, it was confirmed that Nian Nian indeed had pediatric pneumonia. Fortunately, they arrived in time; otherwise, it could have developed into a severe case, causing both physical and mental suffering for the child.
  • The doctor administered an IV and arranged for hospitalization.
  • Nian Nian had been held by Su Yi all along. Whenever someone else tried to hold him or put him on the bed, he would wake up immediately, grabbing onto Su Yi's clothes and not letting her go.
  • Just like now, Su Yi thought Nian Nian had fallen asleep. She gently removed her arm from under his head, intending to go to the bathroom. But as soon as she made a move, Nian Nian opened his eyes and said, "Mom, don't leave!"
  • Su Yi glanced at Li Shengjue and smiled at Nian Nian, "I won't leave, just sleep tight!"
  • Su Yi gently patted Nian Nian and murmured words, as if singing a lullaby. After a while, Nian Nian gradually fell asleep.
  • Once she confirmed that Nian Nian was sound asleep, Su Yi carefully covered him with a blanket, then turned around and whispered to Li Shengjue, "I think it's better to have the child's mother come over. The child is too young and needs strong emotional support. Having his mother around at this time will make him feel secure."
  • Li Shengjue raised his deep gaze, which was pitch black. "Is that so?"
  • "Of course, during childhood, humans tend to rely more on their mothers for emotional support. If a child is sick and his mother is not around, he will feel very pitiful!"
  • "You know that the child is pitiful without a mother. Since you know, then why..."
  • Li Shengjue gathered his strength to say something to Su Yi, but in the end, he couldn't finish his sentence. It was like punching cotton, exerting force but not achieving the desired effect.
  • Su Yi stared at him. Tonight, Li Shengjue was really strange. When they were completing the hospital admission procedures, the doctor asked for the child's full name, but Li Shengjue only said Nian Nian and didn't disclose the complete name.
  • And now, even though Nian Nian was seriously ill, he was unwilling to call the child's mother, Shen Muyan.
  • "Why 'why'?" Su Yi asked.
  • Li Shengjue turned his head to look outside the window, pursing his lips, his expression cold. "You can leave now!"
  • After careful consideration, Su Yi decided to reveal the purpose of her visit tonight.
  • "...I don't know why you suddenly decided to withdraw funding for that drama, but I hope you can reconsider. Everyone in the crew has worked hard, and I don't want us to disband just like that!"
  • Li Shengjue coldly curled his lips. "No wonder you saved my son. It turns out to be a quid pro quo!"
  • Su Yi bit her lip, unable to say what she wanted to say.
  • "I never regret my decisions."
  • Five years had passed, and Li Shengjue hadn't changed at all. He was still so resolute, so stubborn.
  • "Alright, I understand. I disturbed you tonight. Goodbye!"
  • The next morning, Shen Muyan knocked on the door with a lunchbox in her hand. "What's going on? Didn't the doctor say it was just a common cold? How did it become pneumonia?"
  • Li Shengjue stared at her with his deep gaze. "The family doctor yesterday was introduced by you!"
  • "Ajue, I'm sorry. Dr. Sun has always been very skilled. He has been the one treating our family's illnesses. I don't know how he could have misdiagnosed it, causing you to worry. I'm really sorry..."
  • Shen Muyan apologized anxiously, looking nervous, as if she would sacrifice herself in the next second.
  • "Don't go to Shallow Bay in the future."
  • Shen Muyan was taken aback for a moment, a hint of bitterness flashing in her eyes. She forced a dry smile and said, "Okay, I won't go. As long as you and Nian Nian are fine, it doesn't matter where I see you... Oh, by the way, your sister had a car accident last night, not far from the hospital. I've already been to see her. Fortunately, she's fine!"
