Chapter 10 Waiting on a Rainy Night

  • The director looked at Su Yi, who seemed lost in thought, and cleared his throat. "Su Yi, I admit that I have done some things that have wronged you in the past, but my intention was always to make a good film. I hope you won't hold it against me. I know you have connections, can you use them to resolve the funding issue for the crew?"
  • It was the first time the director had been so humble in front of Su Yi. He used to despise actors like Su Yi who relied on connections to get roles, but now he had to lower his posture and beg her.
  • Su Yi smiled at him. "I'll give it a try."
  • The director seemed to see the dawn of victory and excitedly grabbed Su Yi's hand. "As long as you solve the funding problem for the crew, I guarantee you will become famous overnight!"
  • Li Group withdrew its investment, and this fantasy drama was temporarily put on hold. Everyone used to work late into the night, but today they finished work early.
  • Su Yi went home, took a shower, changed her clothes, and went to the Shallow Bay Villa while having dinner.
  • Shallow Bay Villa was Li Shengjue's private residence. Whenever he had free time, he liked to stay there for a while.
  • Su Yan went to Shallow Bay Villa just to try her luck, but she didn't expect Li Shengjue to be there.
  • The person in charge of Li Shengjue's daily life was still the same aunt from five years ago. When the aunt saw Su Yi, she was stunned for a while before reacting.
  • "Su Su, it's really you!" Su Su was Su Yi's nickname given by Li Shengjue. Only people who were particularly close to her called her that.
  • The aunt grabbed Su Yi's hand, excited as if she had seen her own daughter. Su Yi exchanged a few words with her and looked inside. "Is my brother here?"
  • "He is, let me inform him for you!"
  • Su Yi stood at the entrance of the villa, the lights inside were bright. She felt a bit trance-like, as if she had returned to five years ago, standing here nervously, waiting for Li Shengjue's response, waiting to see if she could go in and see him.
  • After a while, the aunt walked back, staggering and hesitating for a while before finally saying what she wanted to say. "Su Su, your brother is not in a good mood today. You should come back another day!"
  • Su Yi knew it would be this result.
  • He hated her to the bone, how could he easily forgive her?
  • "It's okay, I'll wait. When he's in a better mood, I'll go in!"
  • The aunt wanted to persuade her a few more times, but a child's crying came from inside the villa, followed by Li Shengjue's irritable shout, "Auntie!"
  • "The young master is calling me, I have to go back!"
  • The aunt said to Su Yi and hurriedly walked back, responding as she walked, "Coming, coming..."
  • Su Yi stood outside the gate, pacing back and forth. The sound of a child crying occasionally came from inside. Li Shengjue had said before that this was his secret base, and no one was allowed to enter without his permission, not even her.
  • She, Su Yi, was the only person who knew about this secret base of his.
  • But now he was raising a child here.
  • It was early spring, and the wind at night was mixed with cold air. Su Yi only wore a spring dress when she came out of the taxi, and she didn't feel cold at first. But now, after standing outside for a while, she felt bone-chilling cold.
  • To warm herself up, she hugged her shoulders and rubbed them continuously.
  • She was gambling. She was gambling on Li Shengjue's soft heart, gambling on her position in his heart.
  • Fifteen minutes passed, half an hour passed, and there was still no message from inside asking her to come in.
  • Su Yi looked up at the distant sky. The dark clouds covered the moon, and the starlight was dim, as if it was going to rain.
  • A muffled thunder sounded, and it started to rain. It wasn't heavy, but it was fine and dense, falling on her head like a spider's web.
  • There was a roof above the gate, and Su Yi stood under it, thinking that she would wait for another ten minutes. If Li Shengjue still didn't let her in after ten minutes, she would go home and never come here again.
  • Time passed minute by minute, and Su Yi shivered from the cold. Just as she was about to give up on her persistence tonight, a red car slowly drove up and stopped at the entrance of the villa. Shen Muyan got out of the car, holding an umbrella with a broken flower pattern.
  • When she passed by the gate, she glanced at Su Yi, then turned back. "You're Ah Jue's sister, right? We met on the street last time... Come in, it's cold outside!"
  • Su Yi smiled at her. "You go in first, I'll wait a bit longer."
  • Shen Muyan didn't insist and quickly walked into the villa with her umbrella.
  • Watching Shen Muyan enter smoothly, Su Yi suddenly felt a little sad. What she had been persistently holding on to was truly fragile in the eyes of others. The promises she had guarded so tightly were easily forgotten by others.
  • Shen Muyan stayed in the villa for about ten minutes before coming out again. "You came because of Nian Nian, right? Don't worry, he just has a slight fever, nothing serious. Auntie gave him medicine, and he'll be fine after a good sleep!"
  • After Shen Muyan finished speaking, she got into her car and disappeared into the rainy night.
  • Su Yi was a little puzzled. Wasn't she the child's mother? Why did she leave when the child was sick?
  • Lost in her thoughts, Su Yi didn't know when the aunt came out again. "Su Su, we need to rest. Young Master asked me to close the gate. Look at this..."
  • Su Yi smiled at the aunt. "Go ahead, I'm leaving too!"
  • As soon as she finished speaking, a baby's cry suddenly came from the villa. "Wah~~~"
  • The sound was loud, as if experiencing unbearable pain.
  • The aunt panicked and turned to run back inside. "Oh my god, what's happening again? Day after day, can't we have some good days..."
