Chapter 8
- Anya went to her table and immediately printed out a resignation letter. She handed it to the HR directly and said,
- “All the reasons and necessary details are stated in the letter. I am not contracted, so I believe I have the right to do so. I will wait for your positive response,” She said coldly to the woman. It was only at this moment that the head faced her properly.
- “Mrs. Davis, wait!” The woman exclaimed.
- “The CEO said he wanted to meet you in the conference room for a short discussion.” She said in a rush with the phone still in her hands. Anya glanced at the phone she was holding and scoffed.
- “Relay to him that I am no longer his employee.” She said with acid in her voice. She turned and went back to her table.
- She collected all her important things in a box abruptly. The people at the neighboring tables were looking at her curiously, but no one dared to ask any questions.
- “Mrs. Davis,” The manager's voice rang again from behind her. Anya didn’t know which one she was more sick of, the manager’s voice or her title as “Mrs. Davis”.
- She faced her manager but didn’t say a word. The manager still had a haughty look, but it was obvious that there was tension in her expression.
- “Go to the managerial department before you leave. There is still something you need to fill out before you leave,” The manager informed.
- Anya raised her eyebrows and doubted her words. But she was so tired of everything that she just wanted this all to end, so she went to the department to get this done once and for all.
- Andrei was sitting on the sofa with a dark face. Anna was beside him, clutching on him like a monkey.
- “What do you still need with that woman? Don’t tell me you still care?” Anna asked coquettishly beside his ear. Andrei was so irritated that he wanked the woman off.
- “There is something I need her to do.” He said coldly.
- “Really? If you make her do it, then you would finally be done with that tramp?” Anna responded haughtily.
- Before Andrei could respond, the door was swung open, and Anya walked in. She immediately furrowed her brows as she saw the people inside.
- “So, this is what I need to fill out? Ridiculous.” Anya said exasperatedly with a look that was so done with all of his ridiculousness.
- “While I am here, I want a divorce.” Anya dropped the bomb. Sucking up was now over, she would cut ties with him because she can.
- Andrei felt a strange feeling in his chest when he looked at the empty look that she was giving him like she was completely done with him. But he brushed it off.
- This woman was someone who clung to and depended on him. Sooner or later, she will come back crawling and clutching at his feet again. All he needs is to scare her a little.
- “I need you to do something before you leave. You can’t just leave the company without giving the last work for its glory. I need you to meet a business partner of mine.” He said with an arrogant look.
- Ignoring his wife’s words, he was completely confident with his plan. Anyway, this was hitting two birds with one stone, as he could seal a deal for the company with this.
- Anya laughed at this. Oh please, she had done so much for this damned company yet was returned with scorn and discrimination instead.
- “And why should I?” Anya did not back down and stared back at him. She was no longer afraid. She had lost every feeling she had for this man.
- Andrei was caught off guard by her resolute look. Anna, who was watching the scene, stood up before Andrei could retort.
- “Dear cousin, you should follow your dear husband here. He is so good, taking care of me, your cousin, as well. Grandma would be so touched. Don’t you think?” She said as she hugged Andrei’s waist and leaned her head.
- “Oh wait, you will divorce? How could Grandma take this,” She added and faked acting.
- Anya felt her anger rushing in her.
- “Don’t you dare!” She knew what Anna was planning. If she did this, no one knew if her Nana’s heart could take the news. That her granddaughter was divorcing, and her other granddaughter was having an affair with her cousin’s husband!
- When Andrei saw this, he smirked as he wrapped his arms around Anna.
- “Hmm, good idea. I always care for my wife’s family.” He said and kissed Anna. Then he eyed Anya, obviously trying to irritate her.
- Anya drew a deep breath at the preposterousness in front of her. She was so angry, but she couldn’t risk her Nana’s health. Before she could explain to Nana properly, she couldn’t let Anna say anything to her.
- “This is the last time I will do something for you. Make sure you stay away from Nana, if something happens to her, I swear to God, I will never forgive you.” She said with her voice shaking. Her eyes were full of hatred for the man in front of her.
- Andrei's heart trembled as he looked into his wife’s eye. He questioned his plan for a moment but shook it off. As long as Anya does this and see the hopeless and dirty world, she will come back to him and would rather let him torment her.
- She only had him in her life. No one would take her but him. Andrei had a crazy look on his face as he dwelled on these thoughts.
- Anya sighed and asked for the address. When she received it, she turned around and left without a second thought. She went to the hotel where she would be meeting the business associate.
- When she arrived, she eyed the hotel from outside. She was so angry and in hurry to finish this that she forgot her fear and trauma from her last visit to hotels. She walked in and went to the room Andrei told her.
- There he saw a man, alone, drinking and smoking. It was only at that moment that Anya remembered what had happened last time. The man who was pinning her down and forcing her. Before she could change her mind, the door was closed from the outside and was locked. Fear and dread rose in her heart.
- Her husband wouldn’t do that again, right? He was not that kind of monster, right? Again, Anya’s trust and innocence led her to the pits of hell.
- “Mrs. Davis, you are as fine and exquisite as your husband described you. How about we have some fun? Come.” The man said. He was Nathan, also a CEO who had business plans with Andrei.
- “Pardon me, Sir. But could you open the door? It is not appropriate and polite to lock a woman alone with a man.” Anya said with a heavy voice. She was pasted in the door, obviously afraid. This site just excites Nathan more.
- “Now, now, don’t be afraid and accompany me here.” Nathan approached her. Anya’s fear intensified as she saw the crude man getting close.
- When he got close, he suddenly grabbed her arm. It was then Anya started to be completely alarmed and tried to retrieve her arm.
- “Let me go!” Gone were the pretenses. She needed to get away from him. She brushed him and tried to push him away.
- “Did no one tell you that a woman should be obedient? Or else she would be punished.” Nathan whispered disgustingly in Anya’s ear. She resisted more and screamed. She stepped on his foot and kicked his groin.
- “Argh!” Nathan exclaimed. She successfully angered him.
- Anya rushed and banged the door.
- “Open this door! Please, someone! Open this!” Anya kept turning the knob and banging on the door. When Nathan recovered, he grabbed her from behind and angrily shoved her to the table.
- “You little hussy!” He shouted like a beast.
- Anya was thrown and shoved to the table abruptly. She lost her balance, and because of the force, she immediately collided with the table. She hit her head, and dizziness immediately surged. Despite trying hard, she lost consciousness and fell limply to the floor.
- Before losing consciousness, Anya was pondering about all her decisions and actions. Her choices and her principles. She chose to trust countless of times the man she had given her heart to. She couldn’t believe he could do this to her.
- Was their relationship for years really nothing to him? How could he do this to her? Even if he hated her, was there really no more respect and care left of him? Did he really forget all his promises and oath to her?
- If he couldn’t respect her as his wife, he could’ve just respected her as a human. It was then she questioned her choice of man again. How could a man change so much?
- Nothing hurts the most than seeing someone who once loved and cared for you throws you and treat you like garbage.
- Anya’s vision darkened as a tear escaped her eyes.
