Chapter 8
- Luke was efficient. He quickly picked up Isabella and arrived at the Parker's old mansion.
- "Mr. Gerold and the others have gone to the Adams family to celebrate a birthday. Mr. Parker will be here soon. Please wait here. I will go invite Ms. Adrian," Luke said methodically.
- Isabella nodded, obediently sitting on the living room sofa.
- Before long, Luke pushed a woman in a wheelchair out from inside.
- The woman was beautiful and applied a touch of makeup. She was dressed in a traditional dress of lilac color. Her slightly curled, brown hair bun exuded the elegance and laziness of a mature woman. She would undoubtedly bewitch all beings with red lipstick.
- Katherine seemed to remember something, turning her face to Luke behind her, and said, "Luke, I forgot to take the blanket. Could you please ask Cindy to fetch it from the bedroom?"
- Luke nodded and left.
- Only the two women were left, staring at each other. Although there was a faint smile on Katherine's face, Isabella always felt that her gaze was not so kind.
- Perhaps, it was just an illusion.
- "Ms. Watson, I suppose Joe must have told you about my situation?" Katherine got straight to the point.
- Joe?
- The seemingly casual address was an intimacy that others could not intrude upon. It was a test and also a blatant declaration of sovereignty.
- Isabella's heart ached.
- At this moment, Katherine was also quietly observing Isabella. Even with simple makeup, one could easily see her heavenly beauty. Her soft, shiny black hair hung over her shoulders like satin, making her skin appear even fairer. Her simple beige dress could not hide her graceful figure, and her eyes, which even women could not help but be captivated by, were even more beautiful in the eyes of men.
- Katherine couldn't help but clench her fists secretly.
- Unaware of the situation, Isabella was only concerned about repaying a favor at the moment. "Yes. Ms. Adrian, may I take a look at your legs?"
- "No rush, Ms. Watson. I'm a bit thirsty. Could you please pass me the tea on the table first?" Katherine smiled charmingly.
- Isabella turned her head and saw a cup of tea on the side table. Without thinking too much, she got up, picked up the cup, and handed it to Katherine. Seeing Katherine take it, Isabella let go of her hand.
- Her hand had not yet fully left the cup when suddenly, a round-faced girl who looked like a maid rushed out, shouting.
- "Ms. Adrian, don't drink it!"
- Both of them were startled at the same time. Katherine suddenly withdrew her hand, and the next second, the cup along with the hot water inside fell right onto her lap.
- "I'm so sorry."
- Isabella immediately picked up the cup and apologized.
- The little maid rushed over and pushed Isabella away. Isabella, unsteady from the forceful push, was about to fall, but luckily, a lean yet strong arm caught her.
- Fortunately, Joseph came in time.
- The little maid squatted in front of the wheelchair, carefully lifting the hem of Katherine's skirt. Her originally fair legs were now covered in a large red patch, with blisters in the severe areas.
- Isabella was somewhat puzzled. She had just held it and felt it wasn't hot. Only then did she dare hand it to Katherine. How could it...
- "Ms. Watson is allergic to pollen. How could you give her herbal tea? You can't even hold the cup steady. Did you drop it on purpose? Are you here to treat or harm..." the young maid complained.
- "Cindy!" Katherine called out in stop.
- Cindy immediately shut up.
- Isabella was at a loss, looking towards Joseph. "I..."
- "Joe, don't blame Ms. Watson. I was a bit thirsty and wanted to drink tea. Then I was startled by this girl and didn't catch it well. It's all my fault."
- Katherine guiltily spoke first.
- Although Isabella understood medical skills, she was not good at handling injuries and did not dare to step forward to help.
- At this moment, an anxious young man's voice rang out, "What are you standing there for? Take her to the hospital quickly! Are you waiting for her to scar?"
- The speaker was a stranger who had come in with Joseph, wearing gold-rimmed glasses and looking handsome and refined.
- Katherine seemed to mock herself, "What does it matter if I have scars? After all, my legs will never get better..."
- "You must go! Luke, drive the car over here. I... ahem, Joe, carry her into the car. There are steps at the door."
- The tone of the man with glasses was firm.
- Considering Katherine's injury, Joseph followed his arrangement. As he passed by Isabella, his eyes were full of worry.
- Seemingly noticing his worries, Isabella took the initiative to say.
- "I'm fine. Quickly take Ms. Adrian to the hospital!"
- Joseph gave her a slight nod, then carefully picked up Katherine, and went to the hospital with the man in glasses...

- Sitting in the back seat of the taxi, thinking about how Katherine had just nestled weakly in the man's arms with her hands tightly hooked around his neck, Isabella suddenly felt a bit uncomfortable, so she simply closed her eyes.
- After a while, the taxi arrived at a secluded place. Suddenly, there was a sharp brake, and Isabella's eyes snapped open.
- Seeing the driver hastily get out of the car to check, she felt a vague unease in her heart.
- Could they have hit someone?
