Chapter 10
- Ava pulled closer to the line to see if it was clear to pass. The school bus in front of her was weaving all over the place. How had someone thought it was a good idea to entrust children’s safety to a driver who couldn’t drive on their side of the road? Guilt flashed through her. She should follow and make sure the kids got where they were going safely. It was the right thing to do.
- A few girls were looking out the back window and pointing and looking excited. Ava smiled. If her presence illustrated to other females that it was okay to go against the grain in life, then she was all for that. Too many young girls in the city were lost and going above and beyond to blend in with every trend and fad that happened. Following blindly was never a good thing to do. The women she lived with proved that being an individual was the best thing a person could do.
- She slowed when the bus swerved way over the line and then jerked back, hitting the shoulder on the other side. When they did stop, she was going to give that driver a piece of her mind. Children’s lives were not something you messed around with. Ever.
