Chapter 6 Apologizing to Alex Again
- “I'm sorry! I'm so sorry for what I've done! Please have mercy on me and forgive me for my mistakes!” James exclaimed in a trembling voice.
- Adam, who had been standing next to James, slumped to the ground and stared wide-eyed at Alex in fear.
- “Have him demoted to a security guard for the time being. If he performs well, you may consider promoting him to team leader or something in the future. Jonathan Samson will take his place as manager of the security department.”
- Jonathan was a fellow security guard who had always supported Alex, so the two of them had a decent friendship at work.
- Alex then turned around and walked off after saying that, leaving James and Adam rooted to the spot in shock.
- “Understood!” Jack replied respectfully as he walked Alex out of the lobby.
- Class had just ended at the kindergarten later that evening.
- Alex was about to head over and pick his son up when he got a call from the teacher.
- “Hi, are you Stanley Jennings' father?”
- “Yes, Ms. Winston. Did Stanley do something wrong?” Alex asked anxiously.
- “Your son got into a fight with another boy, and that boy is now bleeding from his mouth. His parents insisted over the phone that their son hit Stanley back. Please come over as quickly as possible and sort this out yourselves,” Ms. Winston replied and hung up the phone.
- Alex gasped in shock and sped over to the kindergarten as quickly as possible.
- Upon arriving at the kindergarten, he saw Stanley standing next to Ms. Winston with anger written all over his face.
- The other boy had traces of blood at the corner of his mouth and was crying out loud.
- “Why did you hit that boy, Stanley?” Alex asked with a somewhat stern expression.
- Despite being an incredibly powerful and skilled fighter, Alex did not condone the use of violence and had always taught Stanley to be friendly to others.
- The look of anger on Stanley's face faded as he pointed at the boy and exclaimed, “He called you a useless coward, Daddy! Because I'm your son, he called me a useless coward too! He even mocked you for being cheated on! He also said I'm a b*stard child of the Jenningses because I share their last name! I don't want to be a Jennings anymore, Daddy! I want to be a Jefferson!”
- As the little boy spoke in a trembling voice, tears trailed down his face silently.
- Alex teared up when he heard Stanley's words.
- He then bent over to give Stanley a hug and took a deep breath to calm himself down. “Stanley, do you think I'm a useless coward?”
- “No, you're not! You're a hero, Daddy!” Stanley replied while sobbing.
- My son trusts me enough to hit another kid, so I mustn't disappoint him!
- “Believe me when I say this, Stanley. I will definitely be your hero, and you will surely share my last name. I won't let anyone bully you anymore!” Alex reassured him.
- Ms. Winston let out a scornful snicker when she heard what he said.
- Pfft... What kind of hero could a live-in son-in-law like him possibly become? There's no way his son will ever take up his last name!
- “I trust you, Daddy!” Stanley said with a firm nod.
- Alex gave Stanley a pat on the head as he made up his mind. I'll talk to Heather about this when I get back home!
- “Which one of you f*ckers dared hit my son? Step forward so I can teach you a lesson, you b*stard!”
- Their intimate moment was interrupted by the shrill voice of a woman from behind.
- The other boy ran toward the woman and pointed at Stanley as he shouted, “Stanley hit me, Mommy! Look, my mouth is bleeding!”
- “Don't worry, sweetie. Mommy will avenge you.”
- After comforting her son, the woman shifted her gaze toward Stanley and shouted furiously, “Hey, you! How dare you hit my son, you b*stard?”
- Terrified by the fierce look in the woman's eyes, Stanley buried his face in Alex's chest.
- Alex patted him gently on the head before standing up and glaring daggers at the woman.
- “Is there really a need for an adult like you to hurl abuse at a child? Besides, shouldn't you at least find out what happened before jumping to conclusions?”
- The woman recognized Alex the moment she saw him. “Heh... Well, well, well... If it isn't the infamous piece of trash who can't even keep his wife to himself! Who are you to reason with me?”
- She then stepped forward and tried to slap him across the face, but Alex stepped to the side and dodged it.
- “You dare dodge my slap? In that case, I'll go after your son instead!” the woman screamed in anger and frustration as she swung at Stanley.
- “F*ck off!” Alex shouted furiously as he grabbed her wrist and slapped her in retaliation.
- Smack!
- The woman was so stunned by his slap that it took her a few seconds to realize what happened.
- “You... You dare hit me?”
- “This slap is to remind you to keep your mouth clean!” Alex replied with a disdainful snort.
- He then slapped the woman again before she could even respond.
- “This slap is to teach you some manners!”
- “Y-Y-You...”
- The woman exploded with anger after being slapped twice in a row. She jabbed a finger at Alex and yelled furiously, “Just you wait! I'll have my husband deal with you!”
- The woman then pulled out her phone and called her husband. “Where the f*ck are you? This punk is going to beat me and our son to death if you don't come over to the kindergarten right now!”
- “What the f*ck? I'll be there in a few minutes! Wait for me!” A man could be heard shouting angrily over the phone before hanging up.
- The woman then put her phone away and flashed Alex a smug grin. “My husband will be here soon! When he gets here, I will have you and your son apologize to me on your knees! I will also give you ten slaps in return!”
- Ms. Winston let out a sigh and told Alex, “Her husband is the manager of the security department at Four Seas Corporation. He's not someone you can afford to mess with. I suggest you and Stanley apologize to Mrs. Langdon right now. That way, he might just let you two off easy.”
- “The manager of the security department at Four Seas Corporation, you say? That's all right; let him come. I'll see if he dares make me apologize!” Alex replied with a sneer after finding out who the woman's husband was.
- Ms. Winston simply shook her head and gave up on trying to advise him any further.
- “Let's see you keep your cool when my husband gets here!” the woman shouted with a gleeful grin on her face.
- Alex ignored her and patted Stanley on the head as he whispered, “Don't worry; I'll bring you home soon.”
- “Is she going to have someone come beat us up, Daddy?” Stanley asked in fear.
- “It's all right. No one will dare bully you with me around,” Alex replied with a faint smile.
- Stanley nodded. “Yeah! I trust you, Daddy!”
- A Volkswagen pulled up outside the kindergarten about five minutes later.
- “Which one of you b*stards hit my wife, huh? Step forward!” James yelled as he got out of the car and ran into the kindergarten.
- His loud voice captured the attention of everyone present at the scene almost instantly.
- The woman jabbed a finger at Alex as she screamed, “It's him! This piece of trash is the one who hit me! Have him get on his knees! I'm going to smack the crap out of him!”
- “You f*cking—” James stopped himself mid-sentence when he turned around and saw Alex.
- “Your wife here wants me to get on my knees. What do you say?” Alex asked with a mocking smile on his face.
- James immediately dropped to his knees with a loud thud and apologized profusely with his head held low, “I-I-I'm sorry, Mr. Jefferson! I didn't know it was you!”
