Chapter 5 Alpha's Regret

  • CONAN —
  • I was lying on my bed with a gloomy face, trying so hard to wave off the thoughts about what had befallen me, when Hakim, the beta, came in, and I quickly sat up.
  • "My Alpha, the hospital had just responded, but they demanded that you sign a contract first before they would proceed to assign you the doctor who would take care of you," he stated.
  • "What arrant nonsense! Who does that?" I responded, my face frowning worse than it had been. "What has my signature to do with healing me from this deadly disease?"
  • "I'm sorry, my Alpha, but...
  • "But what?" I interrupted him with a stern gaze that he kept mute and stared at me.
  • "Throughout my life, I haven't seen or been to a hospital that demands a contract be signed before treating the patient; what does this mean?" I was confused and surprised at the same time.
  • "I don't know their motive either, my Alpha; maybe that's their rule," Hakim responded.
  • "Rule? Or do they want me to sign off my life to them so they could use me to experiment with how to deal with this disease?" I responded.
  • "I don't think so, Alpha Conan. Have you forgotten how popular this hospital is? Even the governors and presidents of the humans come to this place for treatment, so rest assured you'll be fine; after all, you'll read the contract and see if there are any claws before signing," Hakim urged me.
  • "So what did they mention I should sign? I mean, did they give you a hint about what the contract was all about?" I asked.
  • "Um, the doctor requested that you sign that she and her kids would be safe throughout their stay in the pack until they return to the city," he replied.
  • "Safe? What type of demand is that?" I chuckled. "How would her life be at stake when she would be staying in the Alpha palace throughout her stay in the pack? Who would dare hurt her and her kids?" I stated.
  • "Not really my Alpha." Hakim cuts in.
  • "What else? Why would she make the demand?" I questioned, and my eyelids furrowed in surprise.
  • "She stated she would not be staying in the Alpha Palace; that's also part of the contract she wants you to sign," Hakim responded.
  • "Damn it! That would not be possible!" I yelled. "Tell them to assign me another doctor then," I stated.
  • "My Alpha, I heard she's the best doctor in the hospital, so let's use her," he advised.
  • I sighed heavily, thinking of what to do—whether to accept the request or let them be since their act was suspicious.
  • "This is all my fault, I caused this to myself; yes, I did. Had it been I hadn't rejected and banished Yvonne from this pack, I wouldn't have ended up with Sophia, who led me to this state," I sobbed as I recalled how I got into the mess.
  • Two years after Yvonne's inexistence in the pack and after I had been with Sophia fully as my mate, things became miserable for me. She doesn't treat or respect me as her husband talks more about respecting or treating me as the Alpha of the pack.
  • I was enduring all her flaws, hoping that she would give me an heir as I expected from her; however, nothing positive was coming out of her. Things became unbearable for me the day I returned from a meeting—the Alphas meeting, which usually commenced once a month just to catch her sleeping with an Omega, an ordinary omega!
  • I was so pained to the core that I demanded she get punished for her action, at least to discipline her because it was a big disgrace to me, to share my possession with a mere omega. Nonetheless, the Omega was castrated alive because that was an abominable act he committed. He underestimated me to do that—he underestimated me to toy with my possession.
  • At first, I thought after the punishment Sophia would refrain from her wrongdoings and be submissive towards me; however, she poisoned me in retaliation for the punishment and ran away with my valuables in the house. That was how I ended up in this condition.
  • "Alpha Conan, you shouldn't be blaming yourself over the mistake that has been made. We all make mistakes, and that's how we learn. After all, you were pressured to reject Yvonne by your parents because she could not give you an heir. Additionally, she was framed by the Luna, which resulted in her banishing," Hakim stated.
  • "Did I hear you mention Luna?"
  • "I'm sorry, my Alpha; it's a slip of the tongue," he apologized.
  • "It's better that you said it's a slip of the tongue because Yvonne is the only Luna I have, and my wish is to have her back," I responded, gritting my teeth.
  • "I hope it would be possible too, but let's focus on your health first, my Alpha. So should I respond to them that you would sign the contract?" he questioned, with high expectations of me accepting.
  • I sighed heavily and was silent for some minutes. "Is this a really good decision? I hope we're not about to make a huge mistake." I questioned him. I was scared of what it might result in.
  • "Not at all, my Alpha. As long as she would get you out of this illness," he responded.
  • I clenched my lips and thought for a few seconds, "Alright then, go ahead and let them process the contract signing," I responded.
  • "Okay, my Alpha, I'll forward them your response. Trust me, they're the last bus stop for your health issue," he responded.
  • I nodded and waved at him, signifying he should just leave.
  • I sighed heavily and lay back on the bed. "I hope I won't regret this. Yvonne, wherever you are, I pray you're safe and fine," I mumbled inwardly, dampening the tears that were about to stroll down my cheeks with a handkerchief.
  • Just then I began coughing, and an omega rushed in.
  • "Sorry, Alpha, should I get you your concoction?" she questioned.
