Chapter 8 Is There Something Wrong With My Table Manners?
- “What’s wrong, do you not like them?”
- As he spoke, his cold and sharp eyes softened, his lips even curling slightly - no doubt was he in a better mood after hearing her voice.
- Ou Yanxi was so shocked that it was as though he had seen a ghost - he turned to look at Bai Jingchen to find the other mirroring his exact expression. In all their twenty over years of knowing one another, never had either of them seen their good friend acting this way!
- Having been groomed to ascend as the heir since young, Zhan Senyu had undergone strict upbringing - as such, he had never been the one to show any sign of emotions, constantly masking them with an icy front. He had always been cold and indifferent, even with his close childhood friends.
- And yet, here he was, talking on the phone - gushing with warmth and happiness.
- He had never even spoken to his own mother in such a way.
- “It’s not a matter of whether I like them or not. W-w-why did you buy me so many clothes? You can’t just blindly spend on me like that even if you have the money!”
- As she rattled on hurriedly, chiding him for spending so much on her, Zhan Senyu wondered how expressive her big doe eyes must look at this exact moment.
- “It’s not a waste if you wear them.”
- His two good friends could not believe their ears - was Zhan Senyu, known to be constantly cold and indifferent, actually sweet talking?!
- Bai Jingchen felt like flipping through the calendar in his phone - what the hell was the date today?
- Qi Yushi was dumbfounded at Zhan Senyu’s words - what does he mean?
- Even if theirs was a fake marriage, she was still his wife in the Zhan Family’s eyes - was he afraid that she would make an embarrassment out of him?
- This was the only way she could understand his intentions.
- “I’ll pick you up to eat in a while.”
- Zhan Senyu looked back at Ou Yanxi and Bai Jingchen to see that their eyes looked like they were going to pop out of their sockets. Not wanting to amuse them any further, he exchanged some words with Qi Yushi before hanging up.
- “Brother, something’s up.” Bai Jingchen frowned, teasing.
- “Big brother, don’t try to fool us, we heard everything clearly - it’s a woman!” Ou Yanxi exclaimed, a cocky grin on his face.
- Ignoring their teasing, Zhan Senyu instructed a staff member to retrieve his outer suit. When it had been passed back to him, he stood up and began to walk out towards the door. Just before he left, he turned back at the two. “She’s your sister-in-law. I’ll introduce her to you both next time.”
- Zhan Senyu then made a move - the two remaining people in the presidential suite were left shell-shocked,
- For a very long time.
- “What? When did our brother get married?”
- “I would like to know that too!”
- Zhan Senyu returned to the mansion to pick Qi Yushi up. She noticed that he was no longer driving the black Maserati from before - he was now driving a red ferrari. It contrasted against his black suit, inciting a little annoyance in her - okay fine, you’re rich.
- “What do you feel like eating?” Zhan Senyu asked.
- “Anything will do, I’m not that hungry.” Qi Yushi replied.
- In fact, Qi Yushi did not really have an appetite - ever since she had met Zhan Senyu, everything felt unreal. Aside from all the exorbitant luxury she had enjoyed thus far, she actually had a husband now - it was absolutely unbelievable to her.
- Without saying another word, Zhan Senyu took her to a famous VIP private seafood club. There, he ordered king crab, seafood, sashimi and tonic soup, all of which looked extremely appetising. Initially, Qi Yushi still did not feel very hungry - however, once the food was served, her stomach growled.
- Grr——
- The sudden sound of her stomach grumbling disturbed the otherwise quiet atmosphere of the high-end restaurant. Qi Yushi put her hand over her stomach reflexively, awkwardly raising her head, trying to cover up - alas, Zhan Senyu’s eyes fell on her.
- Ugh, how embarrassing...Qi Yushi felt like crawling under the table to hide.
- She knew how much Zhan Senyu valued the proper etiquette - regardless of whether he was walking or sitting down, every move of his was sophisticated and elegant. On the other hand, there was her, his uncultured and uncouth “wife” - she must really be a disappointment to him.
- “Not really hungry?” he hummed teasingly, parroting her words from before. There was a playful tone in his voice.
- “Ah…” Qin Yushi felt so embarrassed that her face was beginning to flush red. “Well, I’m hungry now.”
- “Waiter——” Zhan Senyu waved his hand slightly, gesturing for a staff member to come over. “This table requires extra urgent service.”
- As he spoke, he took out a centurion card.
- The staff member knew that the centurion card was so exclusive and prestigious that it could not be bought with money - in fact, there were only a total of three of them, all belonging to extremely good friends of his boss. The staff member immediately obliged, taking the card.
- Qi Yushi did not expect for Zhan Senyu to not only be unbothered by her lack of etiquette, but to also prompt for their food to be served faster for her - she heaved a sigh of relief and felt a little bit better.
- That little centurion card worked like a charm - within ten minutes, all of their food was served.
- Qi Yushi was stunned - there were many people who had come much earlier than them but had not even had their food served yet! And these people weren’t just ordinary people - this restaurant also had a per capita consumption of 3,000 and operated by a membership system that required individuals to be of a certain status and significance. And here Zhan Senyu was - on the top amongst all of these rich and distinguished people. Woah, my fake husband is really something.
- “Didn’t you say that you were hungry? Go ahead and eat, if there’s not enough, just order some more.” Zhan Senyu told Qin Yushi, who had a pensive look on her face, still reeling at the revelation of the power that the man before her held.
- So much adoration was filled in such a simple sentence.
- Qi Yushi immediately nodeed, smiling before tucking into the king crab.
- The moment it entered her mouth, she knew that it was indeed well worth its ridiculously expensive price - the taste of the seafood was unbelievably exquisite.
- Qi Yushi really felt hungry now - she continued to devour the food. She was so caught up in eating that she did not notice how Zhan Senyu did not make a move to pile his plate - he just sat there on the opposite side, intently gazing at her.
- He gazed at her red lips and pink tongue, busying themselves with consuming the food.
- He remembered the taste of those red lips when he kissed her at the Ministry of Civil Affairs - man, it was so unforgettable.
- That petite model at the Imperial Court Club was nothing compared to her - when that model approached him, all he felt was intolerable disgust, Yet, when he was with her - Qi Yushi - he felt like he was constantly on the edge, holding himself back from doing things that he desired to do to her.
- That feeling of ecstasy made him feel extremely hot.
- Perhaps his gaze had been too intense - just then, Qi Yushi lifted her head up while she was eating halfway, putting down the crab in her hands. “Why aren’t you eating?” she asked.
- “I’m not hungry.”
- Although his expression seemed indifferent, his heart was itching with desire.
- I am hungry! But I don’t want to eat seafood - I only want you!
- Seeing that he persisted to stare at her intently, Qi Yushi thought that he was displeased with something, and she had an idea about what it was. She hesitated for a while before she asked: “Is it my table manners?” That should be it - otherwise why would he be staring at me like that?
- Zhan Senyu was amused by her assumption - his lips curling into his smile and his warmth seeping into and softening his cold gaze, he replied: “No, your table manners are good. Very attractive.”
- I just want to get a taste of those seductive, plump red lips.
- Qi Yushi felt rather appalled. Attractive? Is that how you should describe the way that someone eats? But then again - why would he lie to me? Since he said that my table manners are just fine - then that’s it.
- The meal soon came to an end - although Zhan Senyu had ordered a lot of dishes, he had not really eaten much. And for Qin Yushi, no matter how big her appetite had been, she still could not finish everything - as such, a huge portion of the food was left.
- Qin Yushi wiped her lips with a tissue. “Have you eaten your fill?” Zhan Senyu asked.
- Qin Yushi nodded. She scanned the leftover seafood on the table and felt her heart hurt. “There’s still so much left, should we pack them back?”
- Pack them back? Zhan Senyu was unfamiliar with such a phrase.
- “We can just come back whenever you like.”
- Qi Yushi shook her head. “No, that’s not what I meant - it’s just that, look at all this food! It’s so wasteful to not finish them...we should pack them back. I can pack them to eat in my lunch box at work tomorrow.”
- Zhan Senyu narrowed his eyes slightly, a little displeased.
- How can she think like that - no woman of mine should ever need to eat leftovers!
- Seeing the cold look on his face, Qi Yushi sensed his displeasure. Oh, he probably thinks that it’s embarrassing to pack food back. She immediately brushed the thought away: “It’s okay, it’s okay, we don’t have to pack it back.”
- Slightly uncomfortable at the tense atmosphere, she bit her lower lip and excused herself. “I’m going to the bathroom.”
- Zhan Senyu watched her walk away. Is she unhappy? Just because I won’t let her pack the food back?
- I don’t want to anger her over such a trivial matter.
- Relenting, he lifted his head and coldly ordered: “Waiter, pack the food.”
