• Jenny's heart skipped a beat as Stephen pointed to the door and the maid who had served the drinks to the three of them the previous day walked in trembling with fear. The maid's face was pale and her hands were shaking uncontrollably. Her eyes darted around the room, and she looked like she wanted to bolt out of the house.
