I hold Daisy tightly in my arms, her small frame trembling slightly, while Leo sits beside me, his eyes wide with uncertainty. He hasn’t said much in the past few days as his entire life has fallen apart and my heart aches, desperate to fix things for him. I reach out a hand, stroking it over my son’s dark head, wishing he were smaller like Daisy.
