CHAPTER 7

  • AARON
  • I sat exactly where Princess Hana asked me to sit and wait for her. I couldn’t move because I knew if she didn’t meet me where I was asked to sit, that would be the end of me.
  • I looked around the Chamber enjoying the looks of the luxury. Since I was born in this Palace, I have never entered any other rooms apart from the one given to My mother and I.
  • The story of my life is really funny. Given birth to in a palace without giving the privilege of enjoying that fact.
  • Mother never told me what happened to my father until I was fifteen years old. And since then, I have always hated King Maeko and his family.
  • And now I am in his Child’s room, I hope I am not in a bigger trouble this time.
  • Suddenly, the door of the chamber opened and the princess walked In with her maids. She looked kinda pissed.
  • The maids saw me as I stood up and they all looked at me in confusion. My eyes also locked with that of Akira and I saw she was as confused as them.
  • “Leave us.” She said to the maids and they made their Bows and left. I swallowed hard as it was left with just the both of us in the Chamber.
  • “My Princess you don’t look too happy.” I said trying to stop the awkward stare and silence that was between the both of us.
  • “So you can see it?” She asked happily and I bowed my head in confusion.
  • Of course I can see it!! It’s obvious and I have eyes!
  • “Yes my Princess. I can see you are pissed.” I said and she sighed walking close to me.
  • My heart skipped and I felt my feet wobble. I moved to the back and when she noticed this, she stopped.
  • “Aaron are you really scared of me?” She asked and I nodded reluctantly.
  • “C’mon. I am not who you think I am Aaron.” She said and I rose up my head to look at her.
  • “I know my princess, but I should be scared of you. That’s what a Slave should feel when standing in the presence of a Royal.” I said and she shook her head holding my hand.
  • “Aaron no. You are not a slave to me. You should have known this right from when I was a kid. We grew up together.” She said and I furrowed my brows.
  • “Together?” I asked and she nodded.
  • “Nikita gave birth to you a year before I was given birth to. We were very young but we enjoyed each other’s company.”
  • “But then my father made these restrictions that the child of a.. shouldn’t be seen with me.” She said sadly.
  • “The child of a slave. How do I not remember this?” I asked staring at her.
  • “Because you didn’t know I was the child of the King. You just knew we were friends. Nikita told you that I was taken away for your own safety. Because she knew you would come searching for me in my chamber.” She explained.
  • “And how do you remember this? I am a year older than you.” I said.
  • “My Grandmother told me. She is nothing compared to father. She was sweet and loving.” She said sadly and I understood what she meant by “was”
  • “I am so sorry for your loss.” I said and she nodded trying to smile.
  • “Do you believe me now? We have been friends since we were kids. The circumstances around us was the problem and that’s why we were separated.” She said sitting on her bed.
  • “I am sorry Princess Hana but why are you just telling me this?” I asked looking at her.
  • “I would have told you a long time ago but I couldn’t because I was scared. I knew after you heard about your father and the wicked my father did you would hate all of us.”
  • “But now I can’t keep it to myself any longer. I miss those times Aaron. When Grandmother told me, I could remember some scenes and I would smile wishing it never stopped at all.” She said staring into space and I sighed.
  • I looked at her not knowing exactly what to say. I didn’t want to say anything to hurt her so I won’t get killed.
  • “I called you here to tell you this, you don’t have to fear me Aaron. I am not like the other people in my family. We are friends, we have been since we were kids and I really appreciate that relationship.” She stated and I nodded.
  • “Thank you my Princess. But I think it’s best I fear you. You said it yourself, the circumstances around us can’t let me stop fearing you.”
  • “If I am seen here, I am dead. If I don’t fear you, I am dead. I don’t fear you but I fear all your family especially King Maeko and Prince Niran.”
  • “I am the only one my mother’s has, and I am not ready to lose her, nor is she ready to lose me.” I explained calmly and she nodded.
  • “Yes. I get it Aaron. I get it. I am happy. “ She said holding my hand.
  • “I am happy that I am able to share this with you. To let you know I am not your enemy. I will never be your enemy.” She said and I smiled looking at her hand on mine.
  • “Thank you My Princess. I would take my leave now so I am not caught here.” I said and she smiled releasing my hand.
  • “You are free to go.” She said calmly and I walked out of the Chamber. I didn’t look back because I felt her gaze on me as I walked.
  • I walked down the hallway thinking about all what she did. Truly these flashes of memories bounced back as she talked.
  • The one where I was in the garden with a female girl. I was still very young.
  • “I need to ask mother about this.” I thought and then on my way, I saw Akira. I stopped walking fast as she approached where I was.
  • “Hey you are back. I didn’t see you through out the meeting.” She said and I nodded looking around.
  • “I need to have someone I can trust apart from my mother and I think it’s you.” I said and I noticed I got her attention.
  • “Of course you can trsut me, what is it?” She asked in fear.
  • “Let’s go to mother together.” I said holding her hands heading to our room.
  • NIRAN
  • “I really love coming here.” Katika said as we both walked down the hallway. She was boring me already with her talks.
  • I wonder why father insists on me marrying her. Maybe he wants this for power too, who knows?
  • “Niran are you even listening at all?” She asked drawing me back to reality.
  • “Oh yeah. Sorry, my mind wandered off.” I said smiling and she heaved.
  • “What’s on your mind? You can share it with me you know. We are going to be couples soon.” She said and I shook my head.
  • “Nothing that important. It’s fine.” I said and she nodded.
  • “You are yet to tell me how yesterday’s party went down.” She said and Immediately, I remembered the humiliation that that new maid caused me.
  • “It was fine for father, but not for me.” I said angrily.
  • “Why? You should be happy your Father King Maeko would be the most powerful this year again. One day, you would take that throne you know?” She said and I nodded.
  • “I know but that isn’t even the issue at all.” I said looking at her.
  • “What happened?” She asked with so much care in her eyes.
  • “One of the female slaves spilled wine on my garment that day.” I said angrily.
  • “And she got beheaded right? So why are you thinking?” She asked and I shook my head.
  • “That’s the thing. She wasn’t beheaded. She was spared by Father.” I said as we stood in front of her chamber.
  • “What? Why would he do that? She shouldn’t go unpunished.” She said and I sighed.
  • “Father was in a good mood, so he spared her life.” I said and she shook her head.
  • “And you? Have you spared her?” She asked and I shook my head.
  • “Of course not. Though my forever caring Brother Arjun wanted me to forgive her, I can’t just forgive her. She has to pay for what she did.” I said.
  • “And how do you plan on doing that?” She asked and I smriked.
  • “Trust me Katika. I know exactly what to do.” I said opening the door for her.
  • “What is the name of this Slave?” She asked walking into the room and turning to look at me.
  • “Akira I guess, why?” I asked and she smriked.
  • “I just want to show her what it means to get on my fiancee’s nerves.” She said and we both exchanged this dangerous smile.
  • TBC….
