• Within seconds of swallowing the tablet, Carmen felt a wave of relief wash over her. The throbbing in her head began to subside, and she felt the tension in her body start to loosen. She took a deep breath, savoring the feeling of coolness in her throat as she handed the glass back to Ronin.
• As he took it from her, their fingers brushed again, sending a jolt of electricity through her body. She couldn’t help but notice how warm his skin felt against hers, how strong and calloused his fingers were. She wondered what it would feel like to have his hands on her skin, tracing every curve and dip.
• But the moment passed as Ronin took the glass away and set it on the bedside table. He turned to leave, his eyes avoiding hers.
