• We did hear the chair outside of the door and grinned at each other. Cecile appeared at the d oor, greeting us softly as she walked inside, dressed in a black dress with heels. “Good morning,” Brent replied as I smiled at her. There was something on her face that made me frown and she closed the door and sat down on the couch.
• “I have some bad news,” Cecile told both of us, looking at the floor. “My grandmother is ill in Japan and my mother wants me to go with her to see her. It looks like we don’t have a lot of time left with her. I don’t know how long that would be and I don’t expect you to hold my job for me.”
