Chapter 2 Can I Ask You a Question?
- This must be a punishment. In fact, it wasn’t simply punishment. It was pure torture.
- I had never experienced such pain in my life. I felt as if I had been run over by a train repeatedly when Xi Qingchuan finally climbed off me.
- He had his back towards me while he dressed, his perfect, muscular back in full display.
- As for myself, I sat on the sofa, with only a cushion hiding my chest.
- My clothes had been torn apart and now lay tattered on the floor in shreds.
- He walked over to the shelves, pulled out a shirt and threw it over me.
- I immediately put it on, buttoning the shirt frantically.
- I had no pants on though. I was wearing a woolen dress when I had first arrived. A one-piece attire.
- Xi Qingchuan’s shirt might look big on me, but I couldn’t simply walk out without wearing anything underneath, baring my legs to the world.
- I struggled to my feet, my entire body aching.
- “I have no pants.”
- He turned his head towards me and threw me a glance filled with irritation and scorn.
- “I’ll get my secretary to hand you a pair later.”
- “We wear different sizes. Her ass is bigger than mine.”
- “I see you’re quite observant.” He buttoned up his shirt, fixed his tie, then shrugged on a suit jacket. He looked extremely presentable, as if he was a completely different man from the one who had acted like a beast a while ago.
- He stood before the mirror, adjusting his attire and buttoning his cuffs carefully. His cufflinks dazzled under the light, almost blinding me.
- I had just been assaulted for no good reason. I had to find out why.
- “So.” I curled into myself on the sofa, hiding my legs under his oversized shirt. “I’m a beard then?”
- The reflection of his good-looking face in the mirror displayed no emotions, neither joy nor anger.
- Xi Qingchuan’s face wasn’t always devoid of expression. That only happened when he was dealing with me. I had seen him chatting with his friends once. His bright teeth had been in full display when he had smiled.
- He didn’t answer me, so I took his silence as a yes.
- No wonder. We’ had been married for six months. He hadn’t even batted an eyelid at me. He wasn’t interested in women at all.
- So why had he treated me this way today?
- Was it because I had wrecked his moment with Bai Yu? He had no other outlet for his urges, and that was why he had used me as one instead?
- I don’t have any homosexual friends, so I was rather intrigued by it all.
- “Xi Qingchuan, do men like you have urges towards women as well?”
- “Men like me?” He finally decided to speak to me.
- He was a vain one. He was taking all day with his tie. He could be folding a floral origami statement piece with the time he was taking.
- “I’m not being discriminatory or anything. I’m just curious.”
- “Are you calling me gay?” He finally deemed to grace me with a glance.
- “What else should I be calling you?”
- He burst out laughing.
- “How did you find out?”
- “Bai Yu was fondling your ass. Is there something else I should be looking out for?”
- He approached me. His hands pressed heavily into the back of the sofa as he leaned over me, staring.
- I couldn’t help but press myself further into the sofa.
- His eyes froze over a spot on the sofa. I followed his gaze.
- The sofa was made of a cream-colored fabric. It was an extremely pale creamy color. It was dirtied by a stain that I had made, from earlier.
- I flushed hot red. Then I heard Xi Qingchuan ask.
- “This your first time?”
- Was it odd that it was my first time?
- My fingers clenched tight around the hems of my oversized shirt. I kept quiet.
- It was then that the door swung open. His attractive secretary said, “Mr. Xi, are these clothes acceptable?”
- “Leave them there,” Xi Qingchuan said.
- She shut the door when she left. She had flung a dress on me.
- It was a pale coral color and made of knitted material. The sort of dress that clung to the body. I disliked such clothes.
- I held onto the dress, muttering.
- “I don’t like this color.”
- “Why were you looking for me?” He ignored my comment.
- That was when I remembered the reason I had come here.
- “Granny has been hospitalized.”
- “What happened to Granny?” The expression on his face shifted instantly. “Why didn’t you tell me earlier?”
- “Did you give me a chance to say anything?” There was no time to nitpick over the dress’ color and style. I pulled the dress over myself.
- Xi Qingchuan grabbed his mobile phone off his desk and marched out. After putting on the dress, I followed him, stumbling in my steps.
- We came across Bai Yu as soon as we left the office. Xi Qingchuan said something to him in a hushed tone while I desperately stood a safe distance from them.
- Xi Qingchuan turned towards me after he was done and saw how faraway I was standing from him.
- “Are we that frightening?” He said, in a loud and extremely annoyed voice.
- Yes. Besides, I knew their secret. Of course I was going to stay far, far away from them.
- Bai Yu turned and gave me a look. His face turned red instantly.
- He really blushed easily, that boy. It seemed that most good-looking boys were gay nowadays. What a pity.
- What were the young, unmarried women to do in this day and age?
- Women like the young lady Qiao Yi, who fell in and out of love on a daily basis. What should she do with herself?
- Bai Yu was Xi Qingchuan’s personal assistant. He naturally followed us to the hospital as well.
- We sat in the same car. I tactfully took the seat next to the driver while Bai Yu and Xi Qingchuan sat in the back.
- Xi Qingchuan’s car was corporate transport. The seats in the back of the car faced one another. I snuck a look at them from the rearview mirror.
- Bai Yu had a beautiful face and fair complexion. He was the typical Korean male beauty. Xi Qingchuan gave off slightly more complicated vibes. He wasn’t especially effeminate, nor was he very masculine. One might describe his looks as refreshing, his features delicate.
- I had been taken aback when I had first met him prior to our engagement. How could a man look so handsome? I had wondered then.
- After our wedding, I was taken aback once again. How could someone be so difficult to live with?
- They looked the perfect match.
- One beautiful, the other handsome. It was a pleasing sight, no matter how you looked at it.
- Suddenly, I felt a hard kick to the back of my seat. No prize for the right guess. It was Xi Qingchuan.
- He got me right in the ass. I was lucky the car seat was of sturdy build, or else my ass would be hurting pretty bad right now.
- He had caught me stealing looks at them, and gotten angry.
- What a petty man. What was wrong with having a few looks?
- Sure, I had walked right into their secret affair, but I had paid a price for that too.
- I had had my first time on a sofa in someone’s office.
- When we reached the hospital, Xi Qingchuan got off the car hurriedly, leaving Bai Yu and me behind.
- Bai Yu was still blushing as he stared at me. Boys who blushed really looked quite adorable. I might suffer the tragic fate of being a beard, but I couldn’t hate him at all for that.
- I didn’t love Xi Qingchuan anyway, and he didn’t love me as well. We both knew why we had gotten married.
- Bai Yu and I trailed behind as Xi Qingchuan marched ahead swiftly, without us. We took the same elevator. There was only the two of us inside.
- I couldn’t hold back the overwhelming thirst for knowledge bubbling inside me anymore. I finally spoke while Bai Yu continued to stare straight ahead, leaving me only his profile.
- “Assistant Bai.”
- “Please, just call me Bai Yu,” he replied immediately.
- “Alright.” I nodded. “Can I ask you something?”
- “Please, go ahead.” He was so polite.
- “I was wondering, between you and Xi Qingchuan, who’s the top and who’s the bottom?”
