- “What did you say?” There was a low guttural sound in dad’s voice, obvious that he was mad at my answer.
- I abruptly stand, and for the first time, I seem to have the confidence to face them firmly. “I said no.” Dad gritted his teeth, scowling at me. His glare could pierce straight to my heart if it was a real dagger. “I would never betray them. You see them as monsters but I don’t.”
