• I leaned against the windowsill in Lily’s room, my mind clouded by the events of the past few days. My mother’s influence was still potent over my every decision and felt like a shadow that refused to dissipate. I’d left my mother’s office in a state of frustrated anger, but now as the initial surge of irritation faded, the hard truth began to seep him.
