• The silence in the room was deafening. My forehead wrinkled, my lips parted, and I forgot how to breathe. I know I didn’t hear that right. Right? My eyebrows furrowed. Goddess, it felt like my heart had stopped. I swallowed as I looked into Dane’s eyes. I expected his face to light up and tell me he was joking, but what I found was unwavering truth. There wasn’t any shame there like I assumed. I’ve read books where men have lied about having children just so they could get a piece of ass.
