Chapter 9 Ch Nine

  • "Are you joking now?! I cannot enter here because someone has booked the mall for two hours?!" Dafne Brown raged angrily, as she stood in front of one of the largest malls in the city to be the first to get the limited edition heels that just came in that afternoon.
  • She couldn't believe that she would be treated in that manner, just because of some simpleton that wanted to show off their wealth.
  • 'Who was the person?!'
  • Zoe was still contemplating what to buy amongst the numerous designer heels that she was looking at, when she heard the loud voice raging from the grand door that led to the section. As soon as she was about to turn her eyes away, she watched some tall lady force her way classlessly into the room.
  • "Who are you and what gives you the right to close up this store as you please?!" She frained imperiously, as her eyes shot out lasers of dagger towards Zoe's direction.
  • Zoe turned her eyes to look at the person talking, and it turned out to be the person who humiliated her at the store where she had gone to collect Ivy's clothes. Some kind of feeling that came with elation swept within her, as she waited patiently to see what would happen between them.
  • Dafne's eyes locked with the figure standing before her at the moment, and an intense shock coursed through her veins and froze her in place. Her haughty demeanor crumbled instantly and her facial features contorted with disbelief, unable to comprehend the person she was seeing.
  • Because she had seen Zoe from a far distance at the ball she was also invited to the previous day, it didn't make her realize who the lady was and where they had met before. Seeing that it was her standing in front of her, and that she was the same lady from the cloth store weeks ago, Dafne almost lost her mind.
  • "What….."
  • "You? How are…. How are you here?" She stuttered confusedly and retreated by a few steps, trying to process how it was possible for someone who looked like a maid weeks ago, to suddenly become the billionaire heiress everyone was talking about.
  • Just in the moment of shock and realization, a loud shout from the front of the door disrupted the atmosphere as they all heard the loud, impassive voice demand.
  • "Do you know who I am?!" Irina demanded angrily from the terrified assistants, because she was also denied access to shop in that section of the mall.
  • On hearing the familiar voice, a malicious grin danced across Zoe's lips as she ignored the lady who was still in awe of her presence. She waltzed past Dafne, and walked up to the door to confirm her speculation.
  • "You are being a nuisance to this place with your irrational attitude, ma'am. You can go home and rest if you are not pleased with waiting for extra hours," Zoe chided derisively as her eyes came in contact with Irina Meyer, her ex-mother-in-law.
  • At the sight of Zoe, Irina's mouth went dry and words eluded her, as she struggled to regain her composure. The shock of seeing the most unexpected person stand before her shook her to her core and her vulnerability. Her arrogance crumbled instantly like a house of cards.
  • "Zoe?" Her voice called shakily, still unable to comprehend fully.
  • "Pack every new-in heels, and ring them up. Send it as soon as you are done," Zoe announced from where she was and presented her black card to one of the assistants, who ran to come and tell it instantly.
  • "What?!" Dafne stuttered shockingly, properly drenched in shame.
  • She had left them with no option to get what they wanted!
  • ~•`°^°`•~…_-_…~•`°^°`•~
  • "Oh goodness, guys! I cannot believe what my eyes witnessed today. Audrey and I saw the most unexpected person!" Ivy hastily caught her breath with her chest heaving with anticipation to talk, as she began to narrate the shocking encounter with Zoe that had left her speechless.
  • It was just right in time that Irina was also returning home after her deep humiliation at the mall, and her insides were turning in and out, as she was about her mind from the deep mortification that Zoe had plunged her into.
  • "We saw Zoe, and she was doing her treatment in the room as us! She was listening to our every conversation. Then she acted like we were invisible when she left, and told the assistants that the next time she would come, she would not like to share rooms with peasants. I almost lost my mind," Audrey narrated in pain with her gestures which were erratic, and punctuated with words that painted a vivid picture of the scene.
  • "I'm literally losing my mind, mother," Ivy gritted her teeth hard with anger.
  • "Arrghhh!" Irina screamed angrily as soon as she settled on the plush chair, with her loud voice shaking the corners of the room in rumbles.
  • Isla, who had heard her family's tantrum from the second private living room, came out to hear what her sister, and sister-in-law were saying. She had been home since the breaking of the new day, and didn't go to her workplace.
  • "That bitch humiliated me deeply today at the mall. She bought all new limited edition shoes, and shut the place down for two hours! She even told me to stop being a nuisance…….." Irina choked on her words as her voice trembled with a mix of anger and mortification, as if reliving the moment had rekindled the intensity of her emotions.
  • "What have I done to deserve this shit?! Why is Malcolm not saying anything?! It is his fault that all these have happened. How dare that lowlife bitch humiliate me?!" Irina screamed angrily again as Isla came beside her to remind her that shouting was bad for her health.
  • "Are you sure we might not have to apologize profusely till she forgives us? She'll murder us if she has the chance," Audrey suddenly spewed out in the heat of the moment, which was compulsively pushed out by the different thoughts that were conjuring in her mind.
  • "Are you insane?! You want us Meyers to stoop that low?!" Ivy scolded her instantly with a condescending glare.
  • "I just wanted us to think of something because all these things will get worse. She looked like she was coming for us," Audrey panicked again, refusing to be a part of whatever Zoe had in store for them with her newly acquired position.
  • "Why are you suddenly acting like this doesn't concern you, Isla?! You aren't even saying anything," Ivy suddenly got angry and shot up at her sister instead.
  • "What do you expect me to say?" Isla asked so flippantly as she gazed irritably at her sister, "Did she hit you across the face the same way you have done to her? Or did she file a lawsuit against you already?"
  • "A lawsuit?" Audrey's lips trembled in fear again, as she began to think of what would happen to her dear baby boy, if Zoe decided to get evidence against them and have them fined heavily or even locked up.
  • "Stop acting so classy when you are also a part of us, and that you do not share in whatever mess that follows all this. We can ask Malcolm what he'll do about this, and how all these would not turn back on us," Ivy voiced out further, with some kind of fear lacing her voice at the mention of the lawsuit.
  • She had never feared all those things in her life because of how powerful their family was, but messing with the Sinclairs was highly reconsiderable with what they had made Zoe go through.
  • "Malcolm would do nothing to save your ass. He's probably saving his already," Isla muttered scornfully, "So you should think and find a way to survive whatever storm that is coming after all these," she added.
  • *"*…°_-_°…*"*
  • Drained and tired of all she had been doing all day to fit into her new life, Zoe dragged her feet tiredly back to the suite and to the exclusive VIP elevator that led to her room on the top floor. Her heels clicked against the marble floor so smoothly even with how stressed out she was, while carrying the shopping bag that she received from her chauffeur right before entering the elevator.
  • Staring at the new phone she had just gotten with no one's contact stored on it, she hung her head in pity for herself and how pathetically she had lived. How lonely and broken she had been for the past three years that she had almost lost herself.
  • "Oh, dear Zoe. You have lived an exhausting and miserable life," she said to herself and a sigh escaped her lips.
  • A wicked smile suddenly graced her lips at the thought of how everything played in just one day. She loved the state of wretchedness and frustration that she had placed on everyone she met.
  • 'There's more to come,' she thought to herself.
  • However, her eyes caught the sight of the gorgeous-looking man standing in front of an elevator as it opened, and it made the bags in her hands almost slip off momentarily because it was the person she least expected to see amidst the anger that was still brewing in her.
  • 'Malcolm?' her brain screamed an alert.
