Chapter 4 No One Can Hurt You!

  • Everyone in the Svenson Family was in a state of panic.
  • The Campbells held more power than the Svenson Family, and if they were determined to target the Svenson Family, the Svenson Family would be powerless to resist.
  • "It's all because of that d*mn Ingrid! She doesn't know what's best for her. She actually chose that ex-convict over Mr. Campbell!"
  • "This mess was caused by Ingrid and that ex-convict. Why should the Svenson Family take the blame for them?"
  • "We can't let this matter affect the Svenson Family. Let's go to Sean's house and find them. We have to apprehend them and send them to the Campbells to make amends!!"
  • The family hurried toward Ingrid's house with resentment.
  • On the way, Matilda strategized. "We need to be prepared for this matter. Luca, you are about to get engaged to Elin, so you are also considered part of the Svenson Family. The Cooke Family is stronger than the Campbells. If the Campbells refuse to let go, you must help us."
  • Luca stated firmly, "Elin's family is my family, and the Svenson Family's issues are my issues. Grandma, don't worry."
  • After saying that, he called his father.
  • Everyone praised him.
  • "Elin has good taste. She found such a great husband. Clark, Elsie, you are fortunate to have such a wonderful son-in-law."
  • "Unlike Sean's daughter, she only knows how to cause trouble! Mr. Campbell took a liking to her, but she didn't appreciate it and chose that worthless ex-convict!"
  • "Sean and his wife are unlucky to have such a daughter. They will never enjoy a good life!"
  • Elin and Luca exchanged a glance and smiled contentedly.
  • Isn't the dead convict fond of showing off? Let's see how you handle this now!
  • Ingrid let Henrik lead her out of the hotel, and then she pulled her hand away.
  • "Can you release me now?"
  • Henrik let go of Ingrid, and she immediately took off the medal hanging around her neck and returned it to him.
  • "Take it back. I know you proposed to me just to find an out. I agreed to your proposal not only because I couldn't stand Elin's behavior but also to free myself. You don't have to thank me."
  • Henrik was stunned.
  • "You already agreed to my proposal. Are you going back on your word now?"
  • Ingrid smiled coldly.
  • "Are you really proposing to me sincerely? Besides, I have seriously offended the Campbells now. Are you willing to risk your life marrying me?"
  • Henrik smiled warmly.
  • Her heart was still so kind.
  • He shook his head immediately. "I am sincerely proposing to you. I know you think it doesn't make sense, but that's because there are some things you don't know. Back then..."
  • "Stop!"
  • Ingrid had no interest in hearing Henrik's reasons. It was nothing more than him making up some excuses.
  • All men in this world were the same; their words could not be trusted.
  • "Are you sure you want to marry me? All right then. We can go and register our marriage right away! But let me make it clear. I am marrying you not because I like you but because I don't want to be forced to marry someone else. So, our marriage can only be contractual and in name. Afterward, I have the right to request a divorce at any time unilaterally, and you cannot refuse. Now, do you still want to marry me?"
  • After a pause, she added, "Let me remind you again. I have offended the Campbells very badly now, and I am probably already considered a family criminal. If you marry me, you won't have a good life."
  • "I do," Henrik answered without hesitation and smiled.
  • Even if he didn't fall in love with her, considering her help in the past, Henrik would not leave her at this time. Not to mention, he had already fallen in love with her a long time ago.
  • After spending so much time and going through so many twists and turns, he finally found her. How could he let her disappear from his life?
  • As for a good life, how could he live a good life in this world without her?
  • Ingrid was somewhat surprised. She fell silent for a moment and then said, "I know that you want to repay me because I helped you five years ago, but you don't owe me anything. Helping you was voluntary on my part, and I didn't do much for you, so you don't have to—"
  • Henrik interrupted her. "It's necessary. I have already fallen in love with you."
  • Ingrid opened her mouth and did not know how to respond to this, so she simply pretended not to hear it.
  • "Now that you've agreed, let's first draft the contract and then go directly to register."
  • Half an hour later, Ingrid drafted the contract at a Starbucks and handed Henrik a pen to sign.
  • "Take a look. If there are any objections, we can negotiate and make changes. If there are no issues, you can sign."
  • Henrik quickly signed his name.
  • "Aren't you going to read it? Aren't you afraid that I might deceive you?" Ingrid exclaimed in surprise.
  • "You won't," he said confidently, then took out a special medal.
  • "Now that you are my wife, please accept this wedding gift. Without you, I wouldn't have obtained this."
  • "Did you forget? We're just a fake couple. How can I accept your things?" She shook her head.
  • She had never admired money, and the value of special medals couldn't change her principles.
  • Upon seeing this, Henrik felt even luckier to have encountered such a gem of a girl.
  • "I'll keep them for you then. I believe that one day, you will fall in love with me and be willing to be my real wife. At that time, I will personally put them on for you."
  • Ingrid rolled her eyes at his words.
  • Fall in love with you? Are you kidding? What makes you think I would fall in love with you?! I really don't know who gave you such confidence!
  • After tidying up a bit, the two of them went straight to the city hall.
  • It didn't take long for them to obtain their marriage certificate.
  • Ingrid was speechless when she saw Henrik happily looking at the certificate.
  • It was not real, so she didn't know what he was so happy about!
  • The document was real, but the marriage was not.
  • She was unaware of the time and effort Henrik had invested in this day, so she couldn't comprehend his inner joy.
  • "All right. Stop grinning foolishly. I'll introduce you to my parents, but I hope they won't be too upset." Ingrid furrowed her brows and let out a sigh.
  • Her biggest concern was not whether her parents would be angry but the retaliation from the Campbells.
  • Upon seeing her worries, Henrik smiled. "Ingrid, don't worry. I will handle the Campbells. From now on, no one will be able to harm you in the slightest as long as I'm alive!"
  • His confident words left her slightly stunned and touched, but then she shook her head as if she hadn't heard anything.
  • Handle the Campbells? Are you kidding me? Is it really that easy to deal with the Campbells? You just got out of prison and have no money or social connections. How can you confront such a wealthy and influential family?
  • Anyone could talk big, but few could actually follow through.
  • "Stop boasting in the future. I don't like people who make empty promises." Ingrid reminded him before hailing a cab by the roadside.
  • At that moment, Henrik's phone rang with a message from Charlie.
  • 'Henrik, I've gathered information about the Campbells as you requested. The head of the Campbells, Corey Campbell, is heading to Eclait Bank. He plans to secure a large loan to exert pressure on the Svenson Family.'
  • After beating Donald up, Henrik anticipated that the Campbells wouldn't give up easily, so he had Charlie investigate the situation beforehand.
  • He wouldn't allow anyone to harm Ingrid, so he had to be prepared for any crisis.
  • 'I understand. I'll go there immediately. Inform the president of Eclait Bank that I'm on my way.'
  • After sending the message, Henrik said to Ingrid, "Ingrid, you go home first. I have something to take care of, and I'll join you later."
