Chapter 7 Ariana's History

  • "Understood," Simon said.
  • He indifferently shifted his gaze away, losing all interest in the thick stack of documents.
  • "Boss, the girl from the orphanage back then was Miss Harris, right? Why are we investigating Ariana? And Ariana..." Aaron hesitated as he spoke.
  • "Continue," Simon shot him a glance and said, prompting Aaron to unleash a torrent of complaints.
  • Aaron said, "From what I found, Ariana is completely unworthy of you. She's been involved in fights, bullying at school, smoking, drinking, and even dating early. Her father's reputation has taken a hit recently too. I suspect she showed up at that bar on purpose, scheming to trap you into marriage. I bet she's going to make some outrageous demands soon. What respectable girl would be hanging around outside the men's restroom in a bar?"
  • As Aaron ranted, Simon's eyebrows slowly furrowed together.
  • Just then, a message popped up on Simon's phone.
  • It was from Ariana.
  • As Simon glanced at the message, his expression deepened upon seeing the line, "I have something to discuss with you."
  • He didn't reply even as the screen went dark.
  • Aaron said, "Boss, this marriage is too hasty. Shouldn't you..."
  • As Aaron spoke, the office door suddenly swung open.
  • Adam entered with a smile, looking toward Simon. "Sir."
  • Aaron raised an eyebrow in surprise and asked, "Adam, what are you doing here?"
  • Adam was Martin's butler and rarely left the Hunt family unless it was something significant.
  • Adam said, "Here's the thing. Mr. Simon Hunt is busy with work, so Mr. Martin Hunt sent me to relay a message."
  • Simon's expression grew impatient when he heard this.
  • "Did he see a marriage license?" he asked.
  • "He did. The old man was overjoyed. But..." Adam hurriedly replied, hesitating a bit before clearing his throat for the next part.
  • Then, mimicking Martin, Adam pointed a finger at Simon and shouted, "Brat! How dare he take matters into his own hands! Ask him to bring his wife to see me!"
  • An oppressive silence filled the office.
  • Simon's face was icy, and the room was suffocating under the weight of his unspoken rage.
  • Aaron's face turned red from suppressing laughter, and he discreetly gave the butler a thumbs-up.
  • Poor Adam was sweating profusely and cautiously offered an apology.
  • Adam said, "Simon, Mr. Martin Hunt forced me to do this. There's a family dinner at the Hunt family tomorrow night, and he said if he doesn't see your wife, he won't let the doctor check on him. You know how he is. He always keeps his word..."
  • "Understood." Simon's voice was laced with anger. Martin was the closest person to him, and Simon couldn't ignore him.
  • "I'll go prepare," Simon said.
  • Seeing him agree, Adam immediately left with a smile.
  • Once Adam left, Aaron quickly urged Simon, "Boss, while Martin hasn't seen Ariana yet, you should get a divorce. Ariana clearly has ulterior motives."
  • Simon lowered his head, the pen he was using to sign the contract snapping suddenly.
  • "Get Phillip over here," Simon said.
  • Aaron's eyes lit up as he excitedly responded, "Got it. I'll call him right away!"
  • Phillip was the chief lawyer for the Hunt Group, and aside from business litigation, he was also well-versed in divorce cases.
  • The next morning, Ariana took a bath and stood in front of the mirror, staring at herself.
  • The reflection showed a young lady with flawless skin, graceful curves, and an elegant, slender waist.
  • Her heart-shaped face was radiant with youth, adorned with delicate features that seemed almost luminous.
  • Her clear, wide eyes held a fierce, breathtaking beauty that captivated anyone who met her gaze.
  • For the past ten years, outsiders had no idea that Ariana was so beautiful.
  • Ariana opened the wardrobe and glanced over the row of ill-fitting, outdated, and tacky clothes, a smirk of disdain curling at the corner of her lips.
  • At first, she didn't know the true nature of Martha and Elaine and was manipulated into doing many rebellious and foolish things.
  • Later, in a bid to win her father's favor, Ariana was pressured by Jared to give up modeling, design, and even her studies.
  • From a prodigy to a troubled teen, she had become nothing more than Elaine's shadow.
  • Over the past ten years, Ariana gradually became a pushover in the Ransom family, labeled a delinquent by her classmates.
  • Meanwhile, Elaine grew to be the belle of the school, becoming a socialite in Willon City, receiving all the admiration and attention, and stealing everything from her.
  • Ariana shook off these thoughts, decisively closed the wardrobe door, and changed into the new clothes she bought yesterday.
  • It was time to be herself again.
  • A few minutes later, Ariana left her room and headed downstairs.
  • The servant at the dining table saw her and immediately launched a sharp remark. "Miss, you're up quite late. You don't look like a lady at all. There's no breakfast left for you now."
  • With a swagger, he even threw a rag at her and ordered, "Hurry up and clean the living room. You upset Mr. Ransom yesterday. This is your punishment."
