Chapter 23 Melanie's Been Duped

• Just as Melanie was about to enter the office, Finnley stopped her. "Mel, hold on. Your collar's a bit off." He stepped forward and, with great care, adjusted her collar while discreetly attaching a tiny listening device no bigger than a grain of rice.
• "All set now, Finn?"
• They were standing quite close, and Melanie could catch Finnley's scent. It was different from when he was younger—now, there was a sharp, masculine undertone to it. Her breath quickened slightly. She wasn't used to being so close to a man.
