Chapter 848 Denial
- Benedict's expression turned sour upon the mention of Colton's son. That child was Colton and Nicole's. Even though Benedict understood that it was unfair to blame the innocent, he couldn't help but feel frustrated when he thought about how Nicole's father was involved in the hit-and-run that killed his wife. Benedict turned to glance at Jackson before he straightened his figure and spoke in a hoarse but firm tone. "Don't worry. If it’s true that Colton overstepped his boundaries, I'll make sure that he takes full responsibility for Evelyn."
- Jackson felt a little more assured after hearing Benedict's words. "Thank you for your support, Old Mr. Benedict," he replied with a smile. Benedict simply left without saying another word after that. Anna was rather worried to see Benedict walking off alone, so she tagged along behind him.
- Benedict seemed like he was still angry—he ignored Anna and didn't initiate any conversation with her. She knew that he was in a bad mood, but she still tried to explain the situation to him. "Dad, it's not that Colton doesn't want to take responsibility. The truth is that he thinks Evelyn was the one who drugged him." Anna kept her voice low to make sure that they were the only two people who could hear her speaking.
