Chapter 8

  • FIVE DAYS LATER
  • TIA POV
  • My dad was getting discharged today from the hospital which I’m so excited to finally be with him again just like old times. My mom and I already made all the necessary arrangements to see he was well welcomed into the house after spending a month and three weeks in the hospital.
  • I had come to check up on him since I spent the night with him and went home to take a shower when I decided to meet with the doctor first to collect his new diet list.
  • I was standing in front of the doctor’s office when I heard a familiar voice that sounded like Ma’am Sarah’s inside.
  • I wasn’t planning to eavesdrop on their conversion but the way her voice sounded sad and unhappy made me stand close to the door.
  • “I’m still trying my best, doctor but I assure you it won’t take long.” I heard her say her voice sounding unhappy.
  • “We just have to hope for the best once everything is being carried out accordingly.” The doctor responded.
  • “Okay doctor. I’ll go check up on him now.”
  • I quickly walked away from the door so as not to get caught when I didn’t hear another word. I don’t understand what she and the doctor were discussing but it shows it has to do with the patient she has been coming to check on ever since we had met.
  • I was far from the door not to let her notice I had eavesdropped on her conversation as she came out of the office and found me by the door.
  • “Tia, what are you doing here?” She asked in shock with her voice a little weak.
  • I wanted to ask her why her tone was unusual but she might find it uncomfortable like I was trying to get into her personal space which made me restrain myself from asking.
  • “Good afternoon ma’am Sarah. Actually, I came to see the doctor.” I explained, walking closer to her.
  • “Good afternoon darling. Is something wrong with your dad?”
  • “He’s absolutely fine and getting discharged today.”
  • “Oh, is it today? I must have been lost in my thoughts and forgotten, I'm sorry about that. Does that mean I won’t be seeing you again?” She asked sadly.
  • “We can stay in touch through the phone. Here’s my business card.” I took out one of my cards and handed it to her.
  • “I’ll surely give you a call, darling. Have a nice day and I wish your dad safe recovery.”
  • “Thank you so much ma'am." I beamed.
  • "You're welcome darling. Can I get a hug if you don't mind?" She requested.
  • "Of course." I smiled and embraced her.
  • After a while, we pulled away as she caressed my face with so much affection for a mother to her daughter.
  • "I will see you around." She uttered and walked away.
  • I kept staring at her back until she was out of sight. I haven't seen her this sad before which shows the patient is really someone who means the world to her. I just hope the patient gets well soon.
  • MRS WALTON POV
  • I couldn’t help but let the tears I have been trying to control stream down my cheeks.
  • Bearing this pain is really hard for me. On one hand I was dying to have my husband come back to me and on the other hand I can’t seem to find a decent girl who will be perfect for my son.
  • None of the ladies who applied for the interview is worth my son unlike Tia who is over worth being Andrew's wife.
  • Yet I just can't bring myself to tell her, I am looking for a wife for my son and I want her to be his wife and my daughter-in-law.
  • She's the only one who can tame his cold hearted heart after the damage that witch did to our family.
  • I will have to find a way to confront her if I can't find any suitable lady to be his wife. I'm sure she won't refuse my wish once I tell her about it.
  • THE NEXT DAY
  • ANDREW POV
  • I got down from the stairs and strolled to the dining table and found one of the maids dropping my coffee on the table.
  • “Good morning sir.” She greeted me but I ignored her and walked over to take my seat.
  • I picked the coffee and took a little sip and instantly spat it out as it tasted horrible unlike the coffee I take.
  • “What the hell is this?” I flared at her, causing the other maids to rush out of the kitchen.
  • “It’s coffee sir.” She answered, shivering in fear.
  • “Did you call this shit, coffee?! Who the hell hired you unaware of my rules?”
  • “I’m really sorry sir."
  • “Who the hell asked you to make my coffee and where the hell is Morgan?” I called out to the head maid who rushed towards me.
  • “I sincerely apologize for her childishness, Mr Walton. She just joined in lately and wasn’t aware of your rules.” She apologized.
  • “I want the maid in charge of making my coffee fired this minute. This will serve as a lesson to other maids never to try such nonsense again." I ordered.
  • “Please sir, I love this job more than anything. I don't want to be fired, please sir." The maid stormed out among the other maids begging me.
  • "I want her fired right now!" I yelled to the head maid.
  • “What’s going on here?” Mom's voice interrupted us as she walked down the stairs looking sad.
  • “Mom! Are you alright? Your face doesn't look good."
  • "I asked what's going on?" She ignored my question and ordered the head maid to talk.
  • "The new maid you employed made sire coffee which wasn't to his taste and asked for the maid in charge of making his coffee get fired."
  • "Is that all this is about?"
  • "Yes ma'am."
  • "You all can get back to work, I'll handle the situation." She dismissed them and took a seat next to me.
  • "What's going on mom? Is something wrong with dad?" I asked, impatiently seeing how her face looked.
  • "I can't seem to take any of the ladies who applied for the interview. However, once the application is over, and it turns out I can't find a suitable bride for you, I will have to pick the girl I have in mind."
  • "You can go ahead, I can't say no since dad's life depends on me getting married so do whatever you feel is right."
  • "Okay son but promise me you will love and respect the lady I will pick for you."
  • "I knew you were going to request such a thing which I can't fulfill, no matter how you try. Just take your mind away from such things." I stated confidently.
  • There's no way I'm giving my heart or empathy to any bitch even if I tie the knot with her. After all, I'm only doing it for my dad.
  • The lady will be given $10000 million if my dad is able to regain consciousness and after six months, we divorce and go our different ways.
