Chapter 4 Help!
- Ye Yifan and his men were still nearby on the lookout for her. Wanting to escape from this corridor was impossible.
- Lin Xiaoxue bit her lip and paced around the room barefoot. She opened her eyes wide through the steam in search for something. Eventually, she found a small backdoor in the hot spring house.
- She reached there, pushed it open, and peeked out the door. Her large eyes darted around the area.
- Outside was an open hot spring. It seemed to have been reserved. There were no other people. From afar, she could see a server carrying drinks who had passed by. At the other end of the hot spring was a staircase that led down the mountain.
- Bingo!
- Lin Xiaoxue released the hair from her bun, conveniently grabbed a towel from the rack near the door, planned to mingle with the other guests at the hot spring hotel, and escape down the mountain.
- “Hey.....”
- A feeble call held back Lin Xiaoue, and she turned her head to look back. Light from the half-open door illuminated the pale-faced, frail man and the pool that was half-dyed with blood.
- Eh?
- Lin Xiaoxue froze in fright.
- “Help.... Help me....”
- The words escaped from his partially-opened lips and fluttered into her ears.
- “You....” What is it? Before he could finish his sentence, Lin Xiaoxue saw the man’s lop to the side and passed out in the pool.
- Huh? What’s going on?
- Lin Xiaoxue hesitated as she eyed the open hot spring on the other side. She gritted her teeth and returned to the room.
- She walked to the poolside and using the light from outside, she discovered that the man’s left chest was bleeding. There was a tiny, circular open wound among the bloody mess.
- It appears to be.... a gunshot wound?
- The conclusion reached made her shudder. She almost lost her balance.
- How did he get shot?
- Lin Xiaoxue couldn’t help but scan the area. Apart from them, it felt as if there was a terrifying person lurking in the shadows and watching their every move.
- Chills ran down her spine. She nervously gulped.
- “Oi?” She crouched down and gently shook the man. There was no response.
- The bullet had penetrated his chest. If the shot had been more accurate, he would’ve long been dead.... It was a missed trajectory.
- She had quick thinking. Lin Xiaoxue subconsciously placed her finger by the man’s nostrils. There was still breathing. It was very weak, but he was definitely alive.
- This man had to have some sort of complicated background.
- Normally, Lin Xiaoxue would never have wanted to involve herself in this matter and invite more trouble.
- Hoewver, she then remembered what Ye Yifan and his thugs had said. It was something about “can’t afford to offend this clan’s people”. Even if she didn’t wanted to admit it, this man had indeed helped her.
- Lin Xiaoxue sighed. She went behind the screen and pulled out a cellphone from an inner pocket in the blazer.
- The cellphone had a password, so she couldn’t unlock it. However, she could call emergency. Without a doubt in her mind, she called the police.
- She briefly explained the situation about the man with the gunshot wound and reported the name and location of the hotel. The police wanted to inquire more information, but she merely hung up at that point.
- She could not dawdle here any longer because of this rescue. She had enough troubles herself.
- After making the call, she returned to the man and said, “I can only help you with this much. Whether you make it or not is up to you.”
- There was a bath towel tied around her waist. She left the bloody hot spring house barefoot and walked down the long staircase that led to the bottom of the mountain past the open hot spring. Underneath the bright sunlight, she could see that that the man’s white shirt which she had worn was slightly red from the bloody waters of the pool.
- Along the way, she bumped into a server.
