Chapter 9 That Man Does Not Deserve Her

• Gu Luochen grabbed his oxygen mask. He wanted to remove it, but the action tugged on his wound, radiating sharp pain through his body.
• Dai Wei carefully removed the mask for him.
• Gu Luochen moved his bloodless lips. His words fluttered in the air. “That woman....”
• “Ah, I’ve already checked. Put this back on, and I’ll report to you.” Dai Wei placed the oxygen mask back on his face which allowed him to breathe better.
• Ziyan walked to one of the chairs where she had placed her bag and a file on. She then handed the file to Dai Wei.
• “The woman who barged into your hot spring house is named Lin Xiaoxue. She’s 19 years old, the heiress to the Lin Corporation. She was escaping from her wedding ceremony.”
• Dai Wei turned to the next page of the report that had been compiled by his subordinates. The report was several pages long, so he merely summarized it.
• Previously, he had thoguht that the woman named Lin Xiaoxue was the Boss’s assassin. However, thanks to the hotel’s CCTV, his security team had found out what she was all about.
• If not for this woman, their Boss would have undoubtedly lost his life. The doctor had said that if they had escorted him ten minutes later, nothing could else could have been done.
• Marriage was such a happy event. Why had there been a need for her to run away from it?
• Gu Luochen vaguely recalled what had happened back there. In order to avoid her pursuers, Lin Xiaoxue had risked everything.
• “After thorough investigation, this wedding has been forced upon by the other party. The groom is Xingyue Corporation’s CEO, Ye Yifan. He had his eyes on the Lin Corporation and the beautiful Miss Lin for a while. In order to swallow the corporation and achieve his goal, he used underhanded methods to make the Lin Corporation continuously lose profits. He also loaned them a billion dollars, and in the very end, the company fell into his hands. Aside from this, he also schemed Mr. Lin to agree to his and Lin Xiaoxue’s marriage and, in return, keep Mr. Lin’s status as a board member of the Lin Corporation and give him an operational role.
• Dai Wei continued, “Ye Yifan has always used such underhanded methods in his business dealings. His personal life is a mess as well. He loved to drink and party. He never lacks any women. Miss Lin must have already seen through his facade, and thus, rejected his pursuit. She must have been vehemently opposed to the marriage as well. On the day of the wedding, she used the washroom excuse to run away.”
• Just like that, Gu Luochen understood the gist of it.
• He closed his eyes and contemplated.
• “Master Gu, about Bodyguard 6’s betray....”
• Gu Luochen waved his right hand, signaling that he did not want to hear any more. Dai Wei knew exactly how to take care of this matter.
• Every breath that he took would pull on his wound. The pain was searing. It was a feeling that he would never forget.
• He would make whoever was behind his assassination pay for the ultimate price.
• He composed his breathing and opened his eyes again.
• He really wanted to know more about Lin Xiaoxue and what was of her now.
• “That Miss Lin is rescheduled to have a wedding ceremony at a local church in the city outskirts this afternoon at 3 P.M,” swiftly replied Ziyan after noticing her Boss’s expression.
• That man did not deserve Lin Xiaoxue.
• Gu Luochen’s complexion was very pale, and it wasn’t just because of the wound.
• His dark eyes grew more foggy, as if there were thick clouds rolling over the summer sky. Hints of unwelcoming conflicts appeared within.
• The white roses displayed in the holy church appeared especially ethereal.
• On each side of the red carpet were guests who fully occupied the seats.
