Chapter 14 You Saved Me, I Saved You, We’re Even!

• Their gazes met and even though his eyes seemed faraway since his body was very weak, his gaze seemed to be talking to her. Lin Xiaoxue opened her mouth but it took her several moments before she actually spoke. “You actually managed to live, how lucky!”
• Gu Luochen’s lips curled slightly.
• “You knew I was getting married today?” Lin Xiaoxue asked.
• Gu Luochen nodded.
• “You purposely arranged for someone to rescue me?”
• Before this, they’d never had any interaction.
• The only thing Lin Xiaoxue could think of was that this man had decided to repay her for saving him.
• Gu Luochen nodded again.
• “Thank you!” Lin Xiaoxue was extremely grateful.
• If she ended up marrying Ye Yifan, she was as good as dead.
• They had saved each other!
• Gu Luochen opened his mouth, his voice weak through the oxygen mask, “Thank you!”
• “Oh no no don’t worry about it!” Lin Xiaoxue waved her hands and shook her head violently as she laughed, “I saved you and you saved me, so we’re even!”
• Gu Luochen lowered his eyes and didn’t refute Lin Xiaoxue’s words.
• Things were looking great – she had saved a super rich guy unknowingly, and in return, he helped to settle Ye Yifan for her. So now the Lins could breathe a sigh of relief and she didn’t have to worry about being harassed by that bastard anymore.
• After that bastard set his eyes on her, her life had gone downhill. She’d finally seen the light at the end of the tunnel today!
• Lin Xiaoxue lost the anger and despair she had and saw that her future ahead was bright, and life was still beautiful after all.

• After they had been targeted by Ye Yifan, all of the Lins’ assets were frozen and they ended up owing Ye Yifan ten million. When her family was doing well, everyone tried to butter up to them. Then when they were in trouble, everyone avoided them like the plague. This tiny two room apartment they were living in now actually belonged to her mother’s family, and her mother had to beg her family to let them stay here. It wasn’t for free either – they still had to pay a few thousand dollars in rent, which was about half the current market rate.
• Lin Xiaoxue really didn’t blame her parents for marrying her off to Ye Yifan. Ye Yifan was the one who pushed them into a corner and left them with no choice. Her mother could only hope that he would treat her nicely because he liked her.
• But the words of the devil are not to be believed.
• After everything she went through, Lin Xiaoxue had seen through all these tactics.
• “Xue…” Lin Xiaoxue ran into her parents the moment she reached the lift. They had just returned from the wedding.

• “You know about him?” Lin Xiaoxue asked when she heard her mother mention ‘Mr Gu’.
• “We don’t know anything about Mr Gu, but Miss Ziyan said her boss is called Mr Gu, and he was the one who told her to help our family pay back the debt we owe Ye Yifan,” replied Mrs Lin. “My goodness, Xue, when did you meet such a big shot like him?”
