Chapter 7 Details of the Incentives
- Darius' ID on WhatsApp was just his name—Darius Leynthall.
- A big shot like him wouldn't need to give himself a nickname, for his name already said it all.
- Charlotte even deliberately flipped through his WhatsApp Status, but there was barely anything other than reposts of the articles the NeoEast International PR Department had published.
- Also, to make Darius less jarring in her contact list, she deliberately gave his WhatsApp ID an alias—Rando.
- Very quickly, Rando's message popped in. 'Sign the agreement and marriage certificate tomorrow.'
- There were no variables; Darius sure was a man of his word.
- She proceeded to send her reply. 'Okay.'
- After clocking off that day, Charlotte returned to the campus to get her Social Security Number Card.
- Following that, she went to NeoEast Mall to get herself a red blouse. They would be registering their marriage the following day, after all.
- Speaking of which, NeoEast Mall was one of Darius' many businesses.
- Early the next morning, Charlotte put on the red blouse which was in a size four. Not only that, she deliberately wore slightly thicker makeup for the occasion. She already had fair skin, and with makeup on her face, her features looked even prettier and more delicate.
- She looked absolutely stunning in the mirror, but she didn't think so herself. Charlotte only thought that she should look appropriate for the occasion.
- The morning bus that day was rather crowded, and when she was close to arriving at her stop, Darius' text popped in. 'Come to my office.'
- She responded to his text by typing, 'Give me ten minutes.'
- Darius' breath was taken away by how Charlotte was dressed when she entered his office. Moreover, her bulging pairs brought his mind to that night, causing him to space out for a moment.
- It was just his primal instincts kicking in, so he said nothing.
- Also, he was just her ATM while she was only his tool.
- There was another person in the office, which was Darius' legal advisor, Aloysius Gavell. He had Charlotte sign a few agreements, which basically stated that Darius' assets had nothing to do with her. Their marriage was a secret to the public, but she would receive a remuneration of one million on the day the contract ended. The incentives, which were listed below, would be given during the contracted marriage.
- Firstly, ten thousand for every time the Second Party made Grandfather laugh or smile.
- Secondly, twenty thousand for every delicious meal the Second Party made for Grandfather.
- Thirdly, one hundred thousand for every time the Second Party kept Grandfather company while Grandfather was hospitalized.
- Fourthly, one million for attending the funeral of Grandfather once he passed.
- Toward the end, Charlotte saw one crucial clause which stated that two hundred thousand would be given to the Second Party as a form of down payment by the First Party as of the effective date.
- There was also a note stating that interpretation of matters not covered in this contract would be solely vested in the First Party.
- The whopping sum of the incentives rendered Charlotte speechless. Darius sure is filthy rich, and all of it has to do with his grandfather!
- By keeping his grandfather company once, she could already hire a caretaker to look after her mother for ten months with the money she earned from that.
- Deep down, she wished Grandpa Leynthall would live forever so that her bank account would never be empty, and she would never have to worry about her mother's condition.
- Darius' so-called wage system in this contract was identical to the one for NeoEast employees. The basic salary was alright, but if one performed well, the paycheck for the month would be rewarding. Needless to say, the system was really motivating.
- I have to do my best and earn as much as possible, she thought.
- With that, she signed the papers.
- "Do you have all of your documents ready?" Darius asked Charlotte coldly.
- "Yeah, I've got everything prepared. Here's my ID and Social Security Number." While speaking, Charlotte pulled her two ID cards out and placed them on his desk.
- Darius took a careless gander and said, "Let's go."
- With that, they headed to the Civil Affairs Bureau.
- It took no more than ten minutes when their certificate was embossed with the Civil Affairs Bureau seal.
- Though Charlotte found the whole thing surreal, she was now a 'married' woman on paper.
- After returning to the office, Charlotte resumed working as if nothing had happened.
- However, something was bothering her, for the two hundred thousand down payment still hadn't appeared in her bank account.
- Heavens, this two hundred thousand was 'life-saving money' to settle her pressing issue.
