- I checked out of the hotel and took a taxi to the airport. Clearly, I was now so anxious because I didn't know if Laird was still at the airport or not—he hadn't responded to my messages!
- The taxi drove slowly while he tuned the radio to Spanish songs that I didn't understand. I thought I would reach the airport in half an hour, but the taxi slowed down due to roadwork ahead.
