Chapter 6 A Sky Filled With Fireworks
- Hupo waited until the housekeeper went to the bathroom and took the opportunity to escape.
- She went to a bar and ordered a bottle of red wine and a cake.
- Red wine and cake was not a good match.
- As she slowly drank and ate, a person sat down opposite her, “Can we be friends?”
- “Sure,” Hupo laughed gently as she lifted her gaze to look at the man. To be exact, he was just a grown boy with handsome look. “But, you need to pay a price to be my friend,” she said as she imagined how Ke Beichen would react if he saw her sitting with a young man like this.
- However, even if he was to have a reaction, it would not occur until the next day.
- Today was her birthday. All she wanted was to be happy and cheerful.
- “I’m not scared. You seem very special,” the young man said bravely.
- “Come, have some cake.” The only thing special about her at that moment was her stomach; she was a pregnant woman.
- However, her clothes were big and she was sitting, so her stomach was hidden from view.
- The young man received the cake and politely took a bite, “Happy birthday.”
- Hupo lifted her head, “Thank you. I want to go set off some fireworks. After we finish the cake, can you come with me?”
- “OK.”
- As the young man ate the cake, Hupo drank the wine. It had been a long time since she had wine; all the wine in the villa had been thrown out by Ke Beichen. This one night of freedom wasn’t easy to come by. It was great.
- Freedom felt great.
- Hupo purchased a carful of fireworks. When it came time to pay, the young man said awkwardly, “I...I don’t have that much money.”
- “I do,” Hupo said as she pulled out Ke Beichen’s credit card. After she swiped the card she boarded a rental pickup truck with the young man. It was exciting to set off fireworks; she liked it.
- At that time, Ke Beichen’s phone sounded.
- He nodded his head apologetically at Meng Qinqin’s parents and swiped open his phone. It wasn’t easy, but he managed to convince Meng Qinqin and her parents to hold the wedding in 3 months time.
- There was no changing it.
- As he looked at his phone, the first message notified him that the credit card he gave Hupo had been used.
- The place where it was used was a fireworks store.
- He then looked at the next message, which was sent earlier that night. It was an MMS containing a photo from an anonymous number.
- One photo after another were all taken inside a bar.
- Lan Hupo smiled in the photos as she drank wine and ate cake with a tall young man. She even danced cheek-to-cheek with him.
- Although, there was still a fair distance between their faces, Ke Beichen still considered it as cheek-to-cheek.
- Ke Beichen stood up with a bang, “Uncle Meng, Auntie Meng, it’s getting late. Please allow my driver to take you home.”
- “We will leave our Qinqin with you then, Beichen. You need to stay true to your words and not make us worry.”
- “I understand,” Ke Beichen said as he dragged Meng Qinqin out into the lobby. But, he ended up shoving her into her car and saying, “I’ll come visit you tomorrow.” He then boarded his own car and drove off.
- It was late at night as the car sped past 150km/h towards the sea.
- The last mysterious MMS that Ke Beichen received was from the seaside.
- As per previous photos, this last photo was also of Lan Hupo and the tall young man.
- Lan Hupo was being too brave.
- “Help me check when Lan Hupo’s birthday is,” Ke Beichen ordered one of his subordinates as he drove.
- A few minutes later, his subordinate replied with one word, “Today.”
- In frustration, Ke Beichen tore open the top two buttons on his shirt.
- Lan Hupo fell in the bathroom today and almost had a miscarriage.
- Lan Hupo went on a date today, but the person she went on a date with was not him. It was someone else.
- “Beichen, I want to go on a date.”
- “OK, we will do as you please.”
- Ke Beichen’s Lamborghini pulled up beside the beach as the sky filled with fireworks. But, the person that was beside Lan Hupo, was not him.
