Chapter 117 Don't Let This Slide!
- "J-Jodie." Carla fumbled with the strap of her handbag as she stood before Jodie in the café. She was too nervous to even look Jodie in the eye. Ever since Jodie last exposed her for what she did, she no longer had the nerve to show up before Jodie. She was terrified when she first received Jodie's call earlier that day—she was worried that Jodie wanted to get even with her. Jodie was a calculative and unforgiving woman. She was known for being heartless and cruel in her attempts at revenge.
- "Come here. Have some coffee." To Carla's surprise, Jodie was not her usual petty self. Instead, she seemed much more generous and welcoming. This only made Carla more fearful than ever. "I-I'm not thirsty. I-I'm sorry. I made a mistake, Jodie. Please… I hope you don't hold a grudge against me." Carla was paralyzed with fear.
- "Alright. I've completely forgotten about that." Jodie walked over and pushed Carla down into her seat before placing a cup of coffee in front of her. Thud! The soft noise of the cup landing on the table made Carla jump. She helplessly reached out and held onto the cup of coffee, looking like she was about to cry.
