Chapter 7 The Repeating Cycle

  • Sadness enveloped me. Suddenly, several dark clouds gathered over the classroom block dimming the daylight. It looked like it was going to rain.
  • I thought of the Monster Yelena from last night and shivered.
  • Sadness was overtaken by fear, and I tightened my coat, quickening my pace towards the classroom.
  • "Samantha, Samantha." Yelena's voice echoed faintly behind me.
  • I froze as I was covered in goosebumps.
  • Hadn't the demon chased away Monster Yelena last night?
  • Why did it sound like I heard Yelena calling me again?
  • "Samantha, are you going to class? Wait for me!"
  • I turned around stiffly.
  • The sky was grey and my eyes widened in terror as I saw the translucent form of Monster Yelena appearing inside the cordoned area!
  • She lay in a pool of blood while looking gory. One of her eyes had rolled to my feet.
  • Monster Yelena's eye was staring at me.
  • Not far away, inside the cordon, Monster Yelena was smiling just like when she was alive, but the smile looked terrifying on the monster's face.
  • Monster Yelena's broken hand reached out to me, as if waving at me.
  • I was frozen in place.
  • Monster Yelena slowly rose, moving like a puppet, her joints creaking as she stood up eerily.
  • "Ahh!"
  • I couldn't hold back any longer and screamed as I stepped back in fear.
  • I bumped into a teacher.
  • "Hey, girl, what's wrong?" The teacher, startled by me, asked.
  • "There! There … "
  • I pointed at the cordoned area, but suddenly realized it was empty as I was about to speak. Monster Yelena had vanished!
  • As if everything was just my imagination.
  • The teacher glanced at the cordon, nodding in understanding. "I heard a student committed suicide here. Don't be afraid. The police have taken the body away. If you feel unwell, you can go to the infirmary and talk to Ms. Anna."
  • Was I so distressed and scared by Yelena's death that I had a mental breakdown?
  • If that was a hallucination, was everything from last night also a hallucination?
  • Monster Yelena, Andras the demon, were they all just figments of my imagination?
  • No way! The bruises all over my body proved that last night was no illusion!
  • "I'm fine, teacher." I thanked her with a pale face and quickly left the place.
  • The dark clouds followed me, and today's journey to the classroom seemed especially long. I kept feeling like I was going the wrong way.
  • I stopped and looked around to find my direction.
  • Suddenly, I saw the Stark Building behind me again!
  • A bloodied blurry figure was floating at the stairway entrance of the building.
  • I saw Yelena's head on the figure.
  • It was Monster Yelena!
  • She appeared again!
  • I was shocked but I learned my lesson this time and didn't scream.
  • I saw Yelena float up the stairs.
  • She moved quickly, disappearing into the stairwell in an instant.
  • Before I could react, a chunk of flesh suddenly fell from the air!
  • "Ahh!"
  • I tried to stay calm, but I couldn't help but scream.
  • Fortunately, I covered my mouth just in time to avoid making a scene.
  • I saw Yelena's corpse lying on the ground again!
  • My heart was still racing when I saw Yelena's body start to move strangely.
  • I trembled in fear.
  • Monster Yelena got up and headed upstairs again.
  • In no time, another chunk of flesh fell!
  • She repeated the cycle over and over again.
  • Yelena's actions were fast. In the blink of an eye, she jumped four times.
  • I was frozen in place.
  • I wondered if Monster Yelena was endlessly repeating her death.
  • I quickly thought about Andras.
  • Did Yelena make a deal with Andras and become a monster because of him?
