Chapter 5 Just A Woman He Doesn't Want
- Henry's expression darkened, and it was no longer as flirtatious as before.
- Charlotte let out a sigh of relief as she took a deep breath and forced a smile. "Does this parent have anything else?"
- Henry narrowed his eyes, his thin lips slightly parted as he replied, "You're quite impressive."
- She walked away, leaving Henry behind with the sudden realization that he seemed to be easily provoked by her. It was something she hadn't noticed before.
- Perhaps she had never been this "rebellious" before.
- ...
- Charlotte had observed Simon; after all, he was the nephew of her ex-boyfriend, so she paid a little more attention to him.
- She noticed that Simon didn't enjoy studying. He would sleep in class and didn't get along well with his classmates. Even when others tried to approach him, he remained arrogant and ignored them.
- That arrogance was just a reflection of his uncle's behavior.
- Charlotte planned to have a serious talk with him in a few days.
- On Friday after school, she was still in the office when a teacher rushed in. "Miss Charlotte, the new student in your class got into a fight outside the school."
- Simon had dislocated the other person's jaw and left them with a swollen face. It was a terrible sight.
- After she sent the injured student to the hospital, Charlotte asked Simon to call Henry. Simon made the call, but there was no answer on the other end.
- She became annoyed and dialed a number that wasn't saved on her phone.
- The call connected, and it was noisy on the other end, which caused Charlotte to furrow her brow. "Mr. Cooper—"
- "Who is this?" a low, captivating voice with a hint of unfamiliarity replied.
- As she listened to the noise on the other end, she simply hung up the phone.
- After they paid the medical expenses in advance and explained to the injured student's parents, Charlotte took Simon to find Henry.
- As they pushed open the door to the private room, smoke filled the air; indulgence and luxury were everywhere, and the scene was unbearable to witness.
- Charlotte asked Simon to wait outside the room as she was afraid that he would see something inappropriate for children.
- Men and women all stopped and stared at Charlotte, except for the music that continued to play.
- She glanced around and saw Henry sitting in a dark corner.
- He was smoking, and the fire from his cigarette grew brighter with each inhale. His sharp features became exceptionally fierce in the dim corner.
- As he flicked the cigarette ash, he ordered someone to turn on the lights. His deep peach blossom eyes carried a scrutinizing gaze. "Who called you?"
- Everyone looked at each other and realized that the person in front of them was not Henry. Those with a bit more courage were ready to take action, but they were held back by the people next to them, who whispered a warning, "He's Henry's person. Don't mess with him."
- When he heard this, the other person immediately sat down obediently.
- Charlotte didn't care about Henry's attitude. She walked up to him and said, "Simon has sent someone to the hospital. As a parent, shouldn't you check things out? Shouldn't you apologize to the parents?"
- Henry looked at her coldly and asked, "How much money?"
- She felt a surge of anger in her chest. As a teacher, she couldn't stand parents who acted superior to everyone else.
- "It's not about money now. Simon has sent someone to the hospital. As a parent, shouldn't you see the child and apologize to the parents?" Charlotte restrained her temper and tried not to appear impatient as a teacher.
- Henry turned his head and looked at the flamboyantly dressed man. "Louis, ask them to leave."
- The onlookers were chased away, and the sound system was turned off.
- Henry lazily took a drag of his cigarette as he leaned back on the couch and blew smoke rings. He raised an eyebrow and glanced at her as he said, "Why did you come to find me when everything could have been discussed over the phone?"
- "What does that mean? If it wasn't so noisy where you are, I wouldn't have come, would I?" Charlotte had never seen him twist his words like this before. She suppressed her anger and added, "You are Simon's guardian. He got into a fight at school and sent someone to the hospital. Shouldn't you visit?"
- "It doesn't have to be done right now. Did you come in such a hurry just to see me?" Henry elegantly flicked off the cigarette ash.
- "I feel like I'm talking to a wall. It was a mistake to come and find you. It's a waste of time." Charlotte turned to leave, but Henry came out with his coat and glanced at Simon's bruised face. "Sending someone to the hospital is not a skill. If you have real skills, don't let people come looking for trouble."
- She heard everything clearly from the front and never expected him to say such things.
- When they were together before, they had never discussed these issues deeply because they never had deep discussions about their child's education, but now that she knew, his way of parenting was terrifying.
- Simon followed Henry like a little puppy, and Charlotte was the owner holding the leash.
- "Where are you going?" Henry walked up to the car and asked Charlotte, who was still walking ahead.
- She calmly answered, "I'm taking a cab."
- "Don't you see my car?"
- Charlotte glanced at it and continued walking, then hailed a cab on the side of the road.
- Henry chuckled in frustration.
- Simon looked at the two of them meaningfully and said to Henry, "Treat her well, or else she will give me a hard time."
- Henry glanced at him and walked toward Charlotte to grab her hand tightly.
- "Let go!"
- She tried to shake him off, but his grip on her was even tighter.
- Henry's gaze was unwavering. "Come with me."
- "Mr. Cooper, if you keep pulling me like this, I will call the police."
- "Huh, calling the police for pulling you? Why didn't you say that when I pinned you down on the bed?" He said maliciously.
- Charlotte took a deep breath, and she felt pain in her chest. She was not lacking in eloquence, but in front of him, she felt like a mute.
- Henry didn't let go and pulled her toward the car, but she glared at him as she was unwilling to get in the car.
- He raised an eyebrow and whispered in her ear, "Miss Charlotte, don't you want me to kiss you in front of your students?"
- Charlotte's face instantly flushed with heat, and she glared at him fiercely. Out of the corner of her eye, she noticed Simon sitting in the car and appeared to be gossiping. She despised Henry for speaking nonsense at such an inappropriate time.
- Afraid that Henry might do something extreme, Charlotte had no choice but to sit in the passenger seat.
- "Please fasten your seatbelt." Henry's tone was indifferent, with a hint of authority.
- Under his gaze, Charlotte reluctantly fastened her seatbelt.
- Henry forcefully closed the car door. During the journey, he asked Simon why they had gotten into a fight.
- Simon touched his swollen lip and rebelliously said, "Because I'm good-looking."
- Charlotte frowned.
- Henry held the steering wheel with one hand and pulled out a cigarette with the other. Then, he brought it close to his mouth and took a puff, saying, "Don't create trouble for yourself, Miss Charlotte."
- She pursed her lips, and her beautiful face showed no signs of being moved by his words.
- "I don't provoke others unless they provoke me first, just like how you taught me. If someone slaps me, I have to retaliate with a punch." Simon's rebelliousness was giving Charlotte a headache.
- Henry glanced at the rearview mirror and said, "I've told you before: if you don't have the ability, don't act. If you do take action, make sure to handle the consequences yourself. Don't rely on others to clean up after you."
- Simon immediately deflated.
- "Is this how you teach children?" Charlotte couldn't believe it.
- Henry glanced at her. "Is there a problem?"
- It was only now that she truly realized that she had wasted three years with him. Besides their physical intimacy, she didn't understand him at all.
- At the hospital, the parents of the injured student naturally wanted an explanation.
- Charlotte mediated the situation and inquired about the cause of the incident.
- With a swollen face and a bandaged chin, the tenth-grade student finished speaking and avoided making eye contact.
- Simon, on the other hand, remained extremely arrogant.
- "You're supposed to go to school, not be jealous." The other parent pinched their son's arm. "You're useless. Go home!"
- Henry slipped his hands into his pockets and glanced at Simon. "Impressive. A girl is already interested in you as soon as you arrive."
- "That's right. The nephew takes after his uncle. I can't hold you back," Simon said proudly.
- Henry reached out and tapped Simon's head. "Behave yourself."
- Simon rubbed his head and looked at Charlotte, who sternly said, "Go home and write a self-reflection. Hand it to me at school on Monday."
- After speaking, she walked away first.
- He bumped into Henry and said, "Uncle Henry, whether I succeed in school or not depends on you."
- "What does that have to do with me?" Henry stared at Charlotte's disappearing figure at the hospital entrance.
- "If you mistreat her, she'll mistreat me." Simon patted his uncle's shoulder. "Please treat her well for my sake."
- Henry frowned.
- "Hurry up and go after her." Simon pushed him. "I'll take a can home. You don't have to come back tonight. Good luck."
- As soon as Henry raised his hand, Simon ran off, but he turned back to encourage Henry. "Go for it!"
- Henry wanted to strangle this annoying kid.
- What's the point of encouraging him? She's just a woman he doesn't want.
- ...
- Charlotte returned home and cooked noodles.
- Just as she sat down, the doorbell rang.
- She looked through the peephole and saw Henry's arrogant face. Taking a deep breath, she decided not to open the door.
- Then, her phone rang. It was him calling, so she hung up, but he repeated the process.
- "What the hell do you want?" Charlotte answered, her tone not very pleasant.
- Henry's deep voice carried a magnetic quality that tugged at her heartstrings. "Open the door."
