Chapter 9 Lowlifes
- The individual in charge of liaising with Charles at Dracorise Group was Sherly Hunt, the vice chairwoman.
- Sherly had established herself as a formidable figure in Lyndale, celebrated for her keen business sense. Her contributions had played a crucial role in transforming Dracorise Group into a colossal entity in the industry.
- Just the previous evening, she had been informed that Dracorise Group had been purchased by a multinational corporation. The former chairman had resigned, and a new chairman was about to assume control. Sherly was instructed to prepare for the transition and to assist the incoming chairman.
- However, when she first encountered Charles, she was taken aback. She hadn't anticipated that the individual referred to as Mr. Draco in the announcement would be so young. Although his clothing appeared slightly dated, his presence was undeniably compelling.
- "Mr. Draco, your office is right this way. Please, follow me," she said, bowing graciously while offering her warmest smile.
- Charles took a moment to evaluate Sherly.
- She was undeniably attractive, seemingly in her late 20s.
- Her makeup was tasteful and not overly extravagant, enhancing her natural beauty.
- Her slender figure and chic bob hairstyle emphasized her unique allure.
- "Mr. Draco, this is your office. Are you ready to sign the transfer agreement?"
- Settling into a plush executive chair, Charles replied, "Yes, let's move quickly; I have a busy schedule. I won't be in the office regularly, so I need you to manage the daily operations. And please, keep my identity confidential from outsiders. I assume someone has briefed you on this?"
- Sherly felt a slight tremor at his words. She had previously inquired about the acquisition from the former chairman, who had advised her to avoid digging too deeply into the matter. Those individuals were beyond their reach.
- Understanding the seriousness of the situation, she quickly assured him, "Mr. Draco, rest assured! I will keep everything private. Just leave Dracorise Group's affairs to me. If you need anything, please let me know, and I'll take care of it."
- Knock, knock!
- At that moment, a voice called from outside the door.
- "Ms. Hunt, in ten minutes, you have a meeting with Mr. Norman and his wife regarding a collaboration."
- Sherly frowned at her secretary's reminder. "Tell them to hold on. I have important matters to discuss."
- With that, she placed the transfer contract in front of Charles.
- As he signed, Charles inquired, "What's your relationship with Norman like?"
- Not sensing any hidden agenda in Charles's question, Sherly replied candidly, "We're not close. Norman represents the Simmons, a minor partner company within Dracorise Group. We rarely interact. I only agreed to this meeting because their CEO insisted. If the Simmons can present a compelling proposal, they might secure some of our medical equipment business."
- "Seems like rejecting them won't impact you or the company," Charles remarked with a cold chuckle.
- "Then I formally declare that Dracorise Group will not engage in any partnerships with the Simmons—now or in the future. All connections will be terminated. Anyone found associating with the Simmons shall be fired immediately! Understood?"
- Sherly was taken aback by Charles's serious demeanor, her expression freezing as she fully comprehended his intent. It was evident that the Simmons had crossed Charles, and he aimed to eradicate them from Lyndale entirely.
- "Mr. Draco, you can count on me! I'll inform the Simmons that they have been blacklisted by Dracorise Group!"
- Charles nodded, adding, "Also, have security remove those two from the premises and instruct them not to cause a scene if they lack the strength. Lowlifes like them don't deserve a partnership with Dracorise Group."
- ...
- In a modest reception area at Dracorise Group, Norman and Melissa waited impatiently for Sherly's arrival, their hopes high for a prosperous future.
- To secure this meeting with the vice chairwoman, they had lavished gifts upon the CEO of a subsidiary and even offered to supply medical equipment at no cost if a partnership with Dracorise Group's parent company was established.
- For the Simmons, the profits from medical equipment sales were insignificant compared to the advantages of aligning with Dracorise Group's influential network!
- However, they did not foresee that instead of Sherly, a group of imposing security guards would appear.
- "Uh, you must be Ms. Hunt's security, right? So she's on her way?" Norman asked, adjusting his suit collar in anticipation of what he believed was a significant meeting.
- The lead guard smirked. "Sorry, but Ms. Hunt has announced that effective immediately, Dracorise Group will cease all partnerships with the Simmons. No further connections will be made."
