Chapter 13 Marry Mr Ziegler

  • "Y-you mean ... ?"
  • Whitney struggled to process the words she had just heard.
  • "Yes, you guessed correctly. The Dracorise Group has chosen to partner with the Chadwicks," Sherly reiterated with a smile.
  • Whitney felt as if time had stopped, her hands instinctively rising to cover her mouth to stifle a potential squeal of joy.
  • Have I actually accomplished this? I secured a partnership with the prestigious Dracorise Group—not just for the Chadwicks, but for myself too!
  • "Ms. Hunt, thank you! I'm so grateful!" Whitney exclaimed, her voice brimming with emotion.
  • Sherly returned her smile, replying, "You should direct your gratitude elsewhere. It's Mr. Charlie, our chairman, who deserves your thanks. If he hadn't mentioned the Chadwicks, I might not have given you a second thought."
  • "Mr. Charlie?"
  • Whitney frowned, her mind racing to recall any details about this mysterious figure.
  • "Could you tell me his full name? I'd like to meet him to express my appreciation," she requested earnestly.
  • Sherly shook her head with a hint of mischief. "Mr. Charlie prefers to remain somewhat elusive. You'll have to figure it out for yourself."
  • As Whitney's thoughts whirled in confusion, Sherly couldn't help but picture Charles waiting downstairs on his modest electric scooter, oblivious to the complexities of the wealthy world.
  • It truly was a strange realm.
  • "If you have no more questions, Ms. Chadwick, I'll have my assistant prepare the contract immediately. We can sign it now if you'd like," Sherly said, her tone professional yet inviting.
  • "What? So soon?"
  • Whitney was overwhelmed by the sudden turn of events.
  • ...
  • Once outside the Dracorise Group's towering building, Whitney stood in a daze, clutching the contract between the Chadwicks and Dracorise Group as if it were a priceless artifact.
  • This document was her lifeline.
  • "This is incredible! It feels like a dream! I can't believe I've actually secured a deal with Dracorise Group!"
  • As she spotted Charles waiting for her at the entrance, a wave of guilt washed over her.
  • The rapid success in forming this partnership made her wonder about Sherly's hints regarding Mr. Charlie's prior involvement.
  • Even though she had no clue who he was, she couldn't help but wonder if she'd have the courage to refuse him if he ever invited her to dinner or attempted any sort of physical closeness, like she had done with Kennedy.
  • Yet here was her husband, cheerful and patient on his scooter, a smile on his face that radiated a sense of warmth and safety. Who wouldn't want a husband like that, someone who brought light into their life?
  • As Charles observed the whirlwind of emotions on Whitney's face, he said nothing and revved up the scooter, signaling it was time to go.
  • "Charles, why did you bring me here?" Whitney snapped back to reality, suddenly aware that he hadn't taken her home directly.
  • "We're here to celebrate your success, of course! Didn't you just finalize the contract with Dracorise Group?" Charles replied, his face lighting up with enthusiasm.
  • "Right! I really did it, Charles ... Wait, how did you know I was successful?" Whitney asked, piecing it all together.
  • Well, duh! I'm the chairman of the Dracorise Group! With me around, signing that contract is practically guaranteed!
  • But Charles kept his thoughts to himself, simply smiling enigmatically as he led Whitney through the company's entrance.
  • Once inside the Chadwicks' headquarters, Whitney felt the weight of everyone's eyes on her, a mix of surprise and scrutiny.
  • Could they know about the contract? Yet their expressions seem off.
  • It became clear that everyone had heard she had visited Dracorise Group, and they were all anxiously waiting to see her return in defeat.
  • To their astonishment, Whitney returned so quickly that they hadn't even had time to concoct their mockery.
  • Finally, Melissa broke the silence, saying, "Whitney, I heard you just met with Dracorise Group. How come you're back so soon?"
  • Another younger Chadwick chimed in with sarcasm, "It hasn't even been an hour! Did they kick you out before you could even get through the doors?"
  • Ignoring their jeers, Whitney strode purposefully toward Samantha.
  • But before she could utter a word, Samantha interjected coldly, "Whitney, you have disappointed me!"
  • Her stern gaze was not due to any disappointment over a failed contract; everyone knew that securing a partnership with the Dracorise Group was a formidable challenge. Hadn't Melissa's husband been thrown out of the company before?
  • What truly infuriated her was that she had heard Whitney had forcibly ejected Kennedy from their home to protect Charles, whom she deemed a waste of space, even going so far as to hit him.
  • That humiliation left Samantha flustered, unsure of how to face the elder Zieglers. She had even informed them that Whitney was on the verge of a divorce!
  • "Grandma, I—"
  • Whitney barely managed to begin sharing her good news before Samantha cut her off.
  • "You don't owe me an apology. I never expected much from the Dracorise Group contract. But you still need to uphold your end of the bargain with Melissa. You don't have to leave the Chadwicks, but you must divorce Charles immediately and marry Mr. Ziegler!" Samantha glared at her, her voice icy.
