Chapter 10 Useless Charles
- "What did you just say?"
- Norman was taken aback, convinced he had misheard the statement.
- "Didn't you catch that? Let me clarify: Lowlifes like you are not worthy of a partnership with Dracorise Group!"
- The security chief gestured for his team to step in, encircling Norman and Melissa.
- "What are you doing?! I'm the Chadwicks' daughter!"
- Melissa's voice quivered with anxiety as she clutched her designer handbag tightly.
- How had everything unraveled so drastically? They were supposed to negotiate the contract amicably and leave feeling satisfied!
- Why was this reality so far from her expectations? And why did the security chief's words sound so eerily familiar?
- Hadn't Charles just dismissed them as lowlifes in the parking lot, threatening to throw them out? Was that ominous warning now coming true?
- "No, this can't be happening! I demand to speak with Ms. Hunt to sort this out!"
- Norman's initial shock faded, replaced by anger. He couldn't believe their partnership was being abruptly severed.
- Much of the Simmons' income relied on collaborations with Dracorise Group; losing that connection would spell disaster for them!
- "We have a long-term agreement with Dracorise Group! You can't just cancel it! This must be some sort of mistake—let me through!"
- Norman struggled fiercely, flailing his arms in a futile attempt to break free from the security barrier, but all his efforts proved fruitless.
- The security chief was relentless. He seized Norman by the wrist with one hand and his ankle with the other, lifting him effortlessly off the ground.
- "You dare touch me? You think a mere security guard can lay hands on me? Don't you realize who I am? I'll make sure the Simmons hear about this!"
- "Ha! The Simmons? They're nothing compared to Dracorise Group! Listen closely: This is Ms. Hunt's directive! From this moment on, you are forbidden from entering Dracorise Group. If I see you again, I'll throw you out every single time!"
- "Ah!"
- A shrill scream rang out.
- Norman was propelled through the air, landing squarely in a trash can at the entrance of Dracorise Tower.
- Shortly after, Melissa followed, but her landing was slightly less humiliating; she simply tumbled onto the lawn.
- Yet, the shame was unbearable—she had been literally discarded like refuse.
- "Ugh! That guard will pay for this! I ... "
- Norman scrambled out of the trash can, a wilted cabbage leaf comically stuck to his head.
- This was undeniably the most degrading moment of his life. Just as he was about to explode with anger, his phone vibrated.
- It was his father calling.
- Perfect timing. Norman intended to vent about the recent events, but when he answered, he was met with a thunderous bellow.
- "You little brat, what have you done out there? Do you have any clue? Dracorise Group is canceling all our partnerships—every single one! You useless fool! I told you to negotiate a deal, not to completely offend them!"
- Norman stood frozen in disbelief. The security chief's words had been accurate—was the Simmons truly finished?
- "Dad, it's not what you think! I didn't do anything! I barely even spoke with Ms. Hunt! I was just in the reception area for a few minutes when these big guys came in and threw us out!" Norman cried, overwhelmed by the chaos.
- "Not what I think? You're grasping at straws! Dracorise Group just informed me that it's because you upset the new director, and now Ms. Hunt has ended our partnership. You deserve this! Get back here and apologize to everyone at the Simmons!"
- Heavy, labored breaths crackled over the line, clearly indicating his father's fury.
- After regaining his composure, Norman's father sighed heavily, his voice laced with sorrow. "Listen, I'll try to find a way to fix this. If there's no hope left, I'll pretend you're no longer my son."
- With that, the call abruptly ended.
- Norman stood there, phone in hand, unable to grasp the gravity of the situation. The Simmons were finished, and he was too.
- "Norman, what just happened? Ouch!" Melissa groaned, struggling to her feet, clearly in pain.
- "I ... I don't know. I think I've upset the new chairman at Dracorise Group," Norman replied, still reeling from the shock.
- Melissa suddenly thought of Charles and exclaimed, "Norman, could it be that useless Charles has a connection with the new chairman at Dracorise Group, so ... "
- "Hmm? It's possible ... " Norman contemplated for a moment but ultimately shook his head in disbelief.
