Chapter 14

  • At the Vampire kingdom......
  • "Has he been found yet?", the queen asked the guards. "No, my queen, we are still searching for him. He seems to have vanished into thin air".
  • "that's impossible, have all the nearby human kingdoms been searched?",
  • "yes my queen. We have searched everywhere".
  • "Go and search more carefully", she ordered. The guard bowed and left the room. "Where could he be?", she thought aloud.
  • "Why are you so bothered about that brat? He must be somewhere causing trouble". Calix, her eldest son, and the crown prince scoffed.
  • She whirled around to face him. "Not a word out of you, this is all your fault. If you hadn't provoked him, he wouldn't have run away from home", she wagged her finger at him.
  • "What did I do wrong? He started it. I simply told him the truth that he doesn't belong in this family he should stop being so arrogant, a son of a servant shouldn't think we are equals".
  • She shook her head at his words. Calix was such a troublesome, annoying brat. Most times, she doubted if he was actually her son because of how cruelly he behaved.
  • "And what right do you have to say who belongs anywhere, he belongs in this family. He has as much right here as you do".
  • "You always support him, am I your son or is he your son?", Calix said angrily.
  • "You are both my sons, it doesn't matter whose son he is, I adopted him, he calls me mother and I love him the way a mother loves her son. If anything happens to him, I won't forgive you ever", she told him. He looked at her angrily and stormed off.
  • "Please come back home soon, my boy. I miss you". She whispered into the air.
  • Back at the kingdom...…
  • A farmer walked home, he hurried home because it was already past curfew, and he had no desire to either be caught by the beast or the palace guards who ensured the curfew was followed by everyone.
  • He had never failed to go home before curfew before, he had so much work to do at the farm today and as such he had missed curfew. He hoped nothing would happen to him. He swore to himself that if he got home safely tonight, he would. Never miss curfew again.
  • While he was engrossed in his thoughts, he failed to notice someone creeping up on him. Before he knew what was going on, he was already slammed against a nearby tree. He immediately knew that it was the beast.
  • He looked at the face of the beast, contrary to all the rumors that he had heard, the beast wasn't hideous. He was devastatingly handsome. If not for the fangs which he exposed when he opened his mouth, he would never have guessed that this was the beast.
  • "Forget you get saw me and go to sleep", the beast whispered. The farmer closed his eyes and his body went limp.
  • The beast moved his fangs to the farmer's exposed neck. His fangs broke the tender skin, and he started to suck blood eagerly. It had been so long that had fed. The curfew enforced by the king had lessened his chances of finding a prey. He sucked the blood eagerly, he was so hungry.
  • In his hunger, he failed to realize that the farmer's skin had started to turn pale and that he had taken more blood than he was supposed to take.
  • When the blood force started to lose its vitality, he noticed that the farmer was in a critical condition. He panicked and immediately stopped sucking.
  • He tried to revive him, but it was of no avail. He thought hard about what he was supposed to do. He didn't want the farmer to die. He picked up the farmer and ran at the fastest speed to the doctor's house.
  • He looked around to be sure that nobody was around. He placed the farmer on the ground in front of the door. Then he knocked the door and ran away.
  • One of the doctor's apprentice opened the door and saw the farmer. He called for the doctor, who rushed to the door. The farmer was taken inside.
  • The beast gave a sigh of relief, he hoped that the farmer would be okay. He walked back home afterwards.
  • The next morning, the kingdom was in an uproar, the beast had almost killed someone. Most of them who had not taken the beast seriously before realized that this was a serious issue, and they decided to take it seriously from now on. Thankfully, the farmer hadn't lost his life.
  • The palace...…
  • The king was so furious about what had happened, he instructed his guards to double their effort to find the beast.
  • He instructed Theodore who was already at the palace to work hard, so he could find the beast so weakness. Theodore promised the king that he would work very hard.
  • Theodore immediately got to work, Fife assisted him by bringing books which were high on the shelf and getting him water and snacks anytime he needed it.
  • They continued in this manner until it was afternoon, and Fife convinced Theodore that they should take a break. Theodore agreed to his suggestion.
  • They left the library and took a walk through the garden, Fife asked Theodore to wait in the garden while he went to get them food. Theodore agreed and at on a bench while he waited for Theodore to come back.
  • "my dear son, I thought I would never see you again", a voice said. Theodore looked up, it was the princess.
  • He looked around, none of her guard were present, which meant that she had probably sneaked away from the guards assigned to watch over her. He hoped that she wouldn't turn violent.
