Chapter 3 The Wedding
- I looked in the mirror when one of the most famous makeup artists in the country puts makeup on my face. Today is my Wedding Day! A day that every woman dreams. A grand wedding! I don’t know if I would be happy because I’m getting married at last or I’ll be sad because I haven’t met my groom yet. It’s probably the weirdest wedding that I’ve ever seen in my whole life, and the worst part was the bride was me.
- As he finished with my makeup and hairdo, I am impressed by the makeup artist because he transforms me into something fabulous. Even I can’t recognize myself. No wonder he became in demand among the celebrities because he was great in his craft.
- “Oh my, you are so gorgeous, dear, and your wedding dress suits you. You look like a Goddess descending from above. I’m sure that everyone will only focus on you especially, the groom.” He complimented me.
- I didn’t know how to react, especially when he said that the groom would only look at me because I’m unsure if the man I would marry would like me and if I would like him back, so I fake a smile.
- I have this presumption that maybe my groom was unattractive enough. If not, why does he agree to an arranged marriage for a woman like me? A girl without a good background and doesn’t have any achievements at all. I’m not even popular in school. The bottom line is I’m just an ordinary girl, but I do admit I have looks, although not as stunning as a celebrity does.
- I was holding a bouquet together with the makeup artist. He escorted me to the garden where our wedding takes place. When we arrived there, I was surprised by what I saw! The wedding I dreamed of came true. A garden wedding! I was even more amazed when the setting, the flowers, and even the motif that I wanted were exactly in here, so I unintentionally covered my lips with both hands that were holding a bouquet and thought, “Oh my God! Is this true, or am I just dreaming? How come it’s possible?”
- I felt so excited that my fears were gone, and I subconsciously slowly walking down the Aisle without even noticing everybody looking at me. As I slowly approached the altar, I saw a good-looking guy on the right side standing watching me. Then suddenly my heart skips a beat because I have fallen for a man I had just seen. “Oh my, is this the man I was going to marry? Was this for real, or just a fantasy? I hope it’s not,” I said to myself excitedly.
- As I arrived at the altar, he took one of my hands and held it. Then he slowly led me towards the priest. His smile captivates me; I can’t take my eyes off him. His narrow eyes pointed nose, and even his lips were so kissable. I even look at him the whole time. The priest then began the ceremony and said, “Leonard, do you take Alyssa to be your wedded wife to live together in marriage?”
- “I do,”
- “Do you promise to love her, comfort, honor, and keep her for better or worse, for richer or poorer, in sickness and health, and forsaking all others, be faithful only to her, for as long as you both shall live?”
- “I do,”
- “Alyssa, do you take Leonard to be your wedded husband to live together in marriage?”
- “I do,”
- “Do you promise to love him, comfort him, honor and keep him for better or worse, for richer or poorer, in sickness and health and forsaking all others, be faithful only to him so long as you both shall live?”
- “I do,”
- “As a servant of God, I now confirm you as husband and wife you may now kiss the bride.” Then finally, the long-awaited of all will take place. The kissing scene!
- I was waiting for him to kiss me when slowly, his lips came closer to mine, so I close my eyes. Then he pressed his lips against mine. After we kissed, he suddenly carried me to our reception. The audience was cheering on us. I wasn’t expecting that he will do it. I felt glad knowing that my husband. Who just I met only today was a sweet person.
- People were delighted to attend our wedding. Different people greeted us, but none of them I’ve known. Still, I smiled at them as a sign of respect. As I was observing my husband, I discovered that he is good at interacting with people. I admire him even more.
- “Alyssa, my dear, I was so glad that from now on, you were officially my granddaughter-in-law.” Master Guang cried while hugging me so tight.
- “Me too, grandpa; I am also glad that now I can officially call you my dear grandpa.” I also cried while hugging him back so tight.
- “Okay, just enjoy yourself here because I have something to deal with, and Leonard takes good care of her.” Master Guang’s ordered.
- “Okay, grandpa. I will,” Leonard answered his grandpa, smiling while his hands clasped at his back.
- Even if our wedding is just a setup, I’m still delighted. It’s because of the warm welcome of the people who attended our wedding and most especially that my husband was so good to me.
- While my husband was busy talking to the guest, I remembered my grandma. It was grandma’s second week in the hospital. I searched for a quiet place to call Ms. Belinda to know if grandma recovered already. “Hello, Ms. Belenda?”
- “Oh, Alyssa, how are you? Your grandma always asks for you.” Ms. Belenda said to me.
- “I’m okay, Ms. Belen. Can I talk to grandma?” I asked her.
- “Of course, just wait a second.”
- “Alyssa, is that you?” Grandma asked me.
- It’s grandma. She woke up already! I’m so glad to hear her voice that I can’t help shed tears.
- “Grandma, it’s me, Alyssa. I’m so glad that you’re awake. How are you, grandma? Did you feel any pain in your body? Would you please let me know? I miss you, grandma.”
- “Oh dear, don’t worry too much. I’m okay right now, and by the way, where are you? Why is it that it’s been how many days already, but you are still not here? When will you come back? I am going home tomorrow.” Grandma asked me so much, but I can’t tell her a definite answer, so I just told her, “Don’t you worry, grandma, when I come home, I’ll tell you everything?”
- “Okay, take care of yourself, my dear,”
- “Okay, grandma, I will, bye,” I said goodbye to her, crying silently.
- As I was about to wipe my tears with my bare hands, suddenly a tall young, handsome man handed me his handkerchief.
- “Here, take this. It’s not good for a bride to be sad on her wedding day.”
- I badly needed the handkerchief he offered to me, so I took it without hesitation. “Thank you so much; I’ll better go.”
- The man who gave me the handkerchief smiled at me and said, “You’re welcome,” Then I hurriedly went back to where my husband, standing.
