Chapter 5 The Hot Bosses

  • ANGELICA'S POV
  • What the hell was happening? Why was I not able to shrug off this weary feeling that I had seen this man before?
  • "Have you read the terms and conditions?" His voice pulled me out of my reverie again.
  • "I am confused by what you mean here. Why do I need to live in the quarters provided by the company? I have an apartment. An employee of your company lives with me. It's only 20 minutes from here," I looked at him, confused.
  • "Right. I have to correct it," the man said, taking the file from me.
  • He wrote down something before placing the file in front of me again.
  • [The employee needs to live in the same apartment building as her bosses and be available 24/7]
  • I saw the new clause with wide eyes. What the hell? This was even worse than before.
  • "But I am just an assistant manager and -"
  • "I don't like repeating myself, girl. We told you about the profile in the interview room. You will be assisting us for the time being. We will see what to do after you pass. We can't let a girl assist the business of the entire branch if she can't handle and communicate properly with her boss, right?" He leaned forward.
  • His words made sense, but I don't know if I was being paranoid about the way the clause was written, but something felt off about it.
  • "I see,"
  • "You will be paid thrice the salary for changing your convenience according to company needs," he added, and my fingers trembled around the pen.
  • I raised my head and looked into his eyes again. Something about how he looked at me screamed danger, and I didn't know if proceeding with it would be good.
  • However, it's not like I have something better to do in my free time.
  • The amount he mentions is no minor deal. The company's salary was generous, and he offered me thrice to change my stay place.
  • I read the other terms and conditions before nodding.
  • "Since my Sunday will be off, it's up to me where I spend it, right?"
  • "As long as you don't harm the company's reputation, it should be fine," he said, and I nodded before signing the contract.
  • "I will be under your care then. Please take care of me," I smiled at him.
  • His eyes didn't move from my face. He kept staring at me as if I was a non-living thing before he nodded and signed his name on it.
  • "You may leave now. I will ask someone to send you the address. You have the entire afternoon and evening to shift there. Everything basic will be available at the apartment, so bring only the necessities," The man said.
  • "Okay, sir," I stood from my place before leaving the room.
  • ~~~~~~~~
  • Victoria wasn't happy. I don't blame her. I wasn't pleased either, but ignoring that kind of money was hard, and Victoria agreed.
  • My apartment was right in front of my bosses' apartments. The new turn of events baffled and confused me. It felt like my life was flipped upside down.
  • I have studied their job profile and necessities before, and nothing like this was mentioned there. Maybe they lacked a secretary and decided to hire the new assistant manager as their secretary for the time being.
  • This was the only thing that made sense to me.
  • After working my ass for the entire afternoon and evening, I finally jumped on the plush bed after showering.
  • The facilities here were top-notch. If I want to live in something like this, I might take around 2-3 years with my current salary.
  • To my surprise, everything was arranged and cleaned before I arrived.
  • I walked to the hall and looked around with a happy smile.
  • The furniture and everything looked custom-made. But it could be a knockoff for all I care. Why would the company bosses give their secretary an apartment with such luxury items?
  • I envy all the secretaries who must've stayed here. It must've taken a lot of willpower to leave this place, no? And hopefully, if I keep my work ethic intact, I might get to stay for three months.
  • I was about to go in to cook something for myself when my phone rang with an incoming call from my father.
  • "Hello, Dad," I smiled, walking to the balcony.
  • "Hey, my sweetheart. I just got the news. Congratulations, my love. I knew you would be able to get to them, to the company, I mean," my dad quickly corrected, and I didn't miss it.
  • My dad had been atrociously happy about me trying for this company. It was nothing ordinary, but I knew my dad.
  • It made me strangely suspicious.
  • "Thank you. How are you feeling now?" I walked to the door with scrunched brows when I heard two knocks.
  • Who was it at this time? And why the hell didn't they ring the bell instead? I looked through the peephole and saw it was none other than my boss.
  • As soon as I opened the door, my boss raised his head and looked at me, his brows knitting closer.
  • "Yes?" I asked while still on the phone.
  • "I am feeling much better, my love. I am so sorry I couldn't be there for your graduation party. How are things with Tyler? Are you guys visiting soon?" My dad asked, and my throat felt constricted at the familiar name.
  • "Dad, can I catch up with you later? There are a lot of things I have to tell you," I said before ending the call and looking at my boss, who brazenly made his place inside my apartment as if he owned it.
  • He technically owns it, but it's my space for now, right?
  • "Be ready in a formal black or white colored dress in an hour. We have a business meeting. You will hear most of our calls from this device here. It's like calling your secretary in the office. Don't ever ring the bells around us. We hate the sound of it, okay?" The boss looked at me, and I nodded in understanding.
  • "I see you didn't wait for me, brother," I heard another familiar voice and a chill ran down my spine when I saw who it was.
  • The man walked inside wearing a complete face mask and stared at me. His blue eyes looked the most familiar and were the only visible thing.
  • Have we met before? I wanted to ask him but didn't want to make a fool of myself in front of my bosses the second time.
  • The man walked to me and grabbed my hand, making me stiff as I felt a weird shock in my body.
  • This familiar touch. What the hell was happening to me?
  • I noticed the masked boss beside me becoming stiff, too.
  • I don't know what was happening around me anymore. Who was in power here?
  • "Dylan," the masked man warned the masked man with blue eyes holding my hand.
  • "I hope we can have a happy collaboration," he shook my hand before leaving it, and I suddenly wanted to grab his hand again to confirm my doubts.
  • "I hope so too," my voice came out shakier than I had intended.
  • Well, at least now I know that the blue-eyed one was Dylan.
  • The masked boss, who had been interacting with me since the beginning, walked out of my apartment, leaving me and boss Dylan alone.
  • "For a secretary, you are gorgeous," he said, and the crinkling of his eyes told me he must be smiling under that mask.
  • "Thank you. I hope not to disappoint you," I said, and boss Dylan stood straight, looking at me with an intensity that seemed too informal and scary.
  • "You will never disappoint me," he said before giving me a once over and leaving, making me slide on the floor.
  • Drumming against my chest. That's exactly what my heart is doing right now.
  • For some reason, even if I don't know and no one has told me, I feel like these were the infamous twins of the Martino Empire who single-handedly lifted this company from the ashes. They not only saved it from bankruptcy but made it to the top.
  • The masks on their faces didn't make sense if that wasn't true. They had no other reason to hide it from me. Or maybe they were pretending to be the owners and working under the main bosses because they want people to stay confused about their identity.
  • Everything was complicated, and I was starting to lose it when we hadn’t even started yet.
  • After one hour, I dressed in a black dress and walked to the boss's door, knocking on it twice.
  • "Who is it?" The cold voice came from inside, and I gulped.
  • "Angelica, your new secretary," I said slowly.
  • What am I doing? How will my voice reach them like this -
  • My thoughts were interrupted when the door swung open, and to say I was flabbergasted would be an understatement.
  • Don't drool. Don't look. It's inappropriate. I chanted in my head, but how can you control yourself from seeing something so beautiful and -
  • I took a deep breath, regretting it immediately as his intoxicating natural scent wafted my nostrils, making my heart speed up even more.
  • One stare wouldn't hurt, right? I told myself before letting my eyes roam from his neck to his collarbone, his sturdy chest, six abs, and the towel that was securely wrapped around -
  • "Woah, what are you doing -" I heard a voice from behind, and I turned quickly.
  • I was so startled by my shameless act that my foot twisted, and I closed my eyes, waiting for the embarrassment to arrive.
  • However, rather than pain, I felt someone's hot hands wrapped around mine, their hot breath fanning my face, and I finally opened my eyes.
  • "Easy there," Boss Dylan said, and I looked at my other boss, who was still in his towel, looking straight at me.
  • His face wasn’t visible, but I felt it smirking at me for some reason.
  • "Have you stared enough, or should I stay longer?" He asked, and I looked down in embarrassment.
  • He saw me staring! Why didn't he -
  • "Who told you to open the door looking like this? You could've grabbed a shirt or wear shorts at least," Boss Dylan said before he helped me stand straight.
  • I evened my dress before smiling thankfully at boss Dylan as I noticed my other masked boss walking back inside.
  • "I thought we were ready to leave," I muttered.
  • "We were. Unfortunately, Ericson spilled something on his clothes and had to shower again," Boss Dylan said, and I nodded.
  • Boss Ericson. So that's what his name was.
  • My cheeks turn hot at the memory of his body. This was nowhere near normal. I bit the inside of my cheeks to stop myself from doing anything embarrassing again.
